In a motion filed yesterday in U.S. District Court, attorneys for the former Robert Kosilek asked judge Mark L. Wolf for a status conference with the corrections department "as soon as possible" and a schedule for the surgery "as promptly as possible."
"Now that the (sex-reassignment) decision has been affirmed, the defendant's readiness to provide Kosilek's surgery must be assessed," attorneys Joseph Sulman and David Brody wrote. "Such an assessment will show that defendant has violated the spirit, if not the terms, of the court's orders."
The lawyers said 16 months have passed since Wolf first ordered the operation to go forward, prior to DOC appealing his ruling, "(y)et the defendant is not close to being ready to provide Kosilek's surgery due to a clear lack of urgency in taking the actions reasonably necessary to do so.
"Regardless of whether the defendant attempts to appeal this case further, its duty to continue preparing for Kosilek's surgery remains."
A transsexual wife-killer, I am letting that "sink in" a bit. A "wife-killer" would probably be a male, a "life partner killer" could be, I suppose, either sex ... after the operation, I wonder what he will be? Probably just the "life partner" thing. If he was then, a husband, will he then be ..... a wife? And, if same sex marriage is not allowed in his state, what then ... a woman just .... kills another woman. Will he have to be re-tried as a woman? Sent to another cell block. Allowed visitors on Mothers Day. Live with and mingle with all the female prisoners. What if, emotionally, he is still a man and just doing this as a way to be housed with women, clever thinking on his part. As he/she was overheard saying, "If I gonna die, I wanna die with a smile on my face, or a funny little grin, at least."
