9/30/13

Have had many nice birthday wishes today, good and bad living this long. Many I have known and come in contact with have passed on. So far, I have outlived many. All of my "heros" from bygone days have gone. All of my "radio" friends are gone. Most of my childhood memories are just that, progress has taken them away.

Through Facebook and Email, have heard from many. It is a bit sad that many have moved away, family and friends spread out all over the country. Too much "distance" involved. Via the internet, I have acquired many new friends, and been brought closer to some I have met becehinause and through the internet.

Both Johnny Mathis and I had birthdays today, he is a few years younger.

Compared to the alternative, being alive at 81 is great. 50 used to seem really old to me, 80 was ancient, now, I am there.

I realize that the road behind me is much longer than the road ahead, and what lies ahead is unknown ...

So, again, thanks for all the well wishes .....................

Believe it or not ..... I cannot find a new one for today ............ Believe it or Not
Here is an old one

Monday Morning ,,,, a rainy Monday Morning in Ohio

First, today is my Birthday, turned 81. I remember, around 1950, knew someone who was 81, we were concerned if someone that age should drive. Longevity secrets, don't know any. I listen to a "regression" tape 3 nights a week as I go to sleep. I listen a lot to music from the 40's and 50's, it takes me back, and, I don't think of myself as being in my 80's. I thank Him, morning, noon and night, for allowing me to be here.

Johnnie Mathis, my favorite singer, has a birthday today, only he is a few years younger.

Have said it before, going to do it again. Not sure where you live, I can tell where my "hits" come from, and the variety of countries is hard to believe. So I didn't know where everyone lives. But, if you live in, the USA, you are near a supermarket of some sort. We have Krogers and Walmart and Aldi, within a few blocks.

My wife did a "demo" yesterday, at Krogers, was there for a couple of hours setting her up and getting all the product she needed. I spent time in front, and in the back of the store. If you have a supermarket near you, you have no idea how lucky you are. I am always in awe of the variety and quantity  of products to choose from. For all the product on the shelves, there is almost an equal amount, constantly arriving at the store, to replenish, when the products on the shelves are gone. It is an awesome chain of events. Almost inconceivable if you start to analyze it. The variety is always growing with new products. And this Krogers is just one, in the North end of Newark.

I also cannot imagine how so much product is produced to  keep all of the stores, worldwide, stocked. And I forget the calculated amount of waste. I cannot imagine how much Heinz Catsup has to be produced to keep all the shelves stocked.

I occasionally "thank" employees for what they and their store is doing to offer me such a variety of products, and so many of them.

We have a grocery selection, "fit for a King" and take it for granted.  Thank your grocer, you really don't know lucky you really are ..........

At Zimbabwe golf club, 'foreign' trees exit stage

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — A century-old thorn tree with an umbrella-shaped canopy offers shade to players on the 13th hole of Zimbabwe's oldest surviving golf course. The indigenous tree is going to stay, but "foreign" trees — firs, pines and eucalyptus — that were planted by early white settlers to remind them of their distant origins are now being rooted out.

This has nothing to do with the politics of President Robert Mugabe, whose government has nationalized thousands of white-owned farms under a black empowerment program meant to reverse the entitlements of the white-led rule of the past. It is a conservation and course management program that will change the landscape of the Royal Harare Golf Club, a place steeped in history where cows and sheep grazed on the fairways in the era before modern grass mowers.

According to records, the early, mainly British, settlers were filled with nostalgia for their home regions and golf gave them solace. They planted imported trees and shrubs in Rhodesia, as Zimbabwe was known before independence in 1980.

King George V, grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, played on the course in 1929, bestowing the royal title on the club. But the last of the hardy, long-living foreign trees he saw are being cut down now. The first settlers felled the indigenous trees on the course and wild animals that once roamed there disappeared too.

Royal Harare club manager Ian Mathieson said a program to cut down "alien" trees and replant trees "indigenous" to Zimbabwe such as the acacia and msasa varieties is under way, and will take 20 years to complete. So far, nearly 60 gnarled and elderly "foreign" trees have been removed and more than 300 local trees and shrubs have been planted in their place.

Foreign eucalyptus, or gum trees, most of them over 100 years old, are set for the chainsaw, said Mathieson. They suck up too much water at a time when Zimbabwe faces acute water shortages, and the sinking of thousands of new borehole wells in suburbs near the golf course have already lowered the underground water table, he said.

"If we are to retain water, these trees need to come down," Mathieson said. Nearby pine trees also make the soil acidic and "there is also the threat of falling debris from the old trees," he said.

Experts have been called in for the replanting exercise that requires careful planning. Every hole has trees planted in ways to make the game more challenging, according to Mathieson.

"A player has to contend with the trees if he hits the ball out of the fairway," he said.

Ted Cruz: If we have a shutdown, it will be because Harry Reid 'holds the American people hostage'

With a possible government shutdown looming, Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz tried to place the blame on squarely on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for refusing to compromise on the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

"So far, [Reid] has essentially told the House of Representatives and the American people, 'Go jump in a lake,'" Cruz said on "Meet The Press" on NBC. "He said, 'I'm not willing to compromise, I'm not willing to even talk,' His position is 100 percent of Obamacare must be funded in all instances, and, other than that, he's going to shut the government down. I hope he doesn't do that. If Harry Reid forces a government shutdown, that will be a mistake. I hope he backs away from that ledge that he's pushing us towards, but that is his position."

Cruz continued: "Twice Harry Reid has said, 'We won't even have a conversation. I refuse to compromise. We want to fund it all. We want to stick it on the American people. And we won't budge.' That's not a reasonable position. And if we have a shutdown, it will be because Harry Reid holds that absolutist position, and essentially, holds the American people hostage."

Cruz commended the House's early Sunday vote to keep the government open and delay Obamacare for a year, despite Reid's contention that the bill would be dead on arrival when the Senate resumes work Monday.

"President Obama has granted a delay for giant corporations," Cruz said. "Every big company in America has gotten a one-year delay. If Harry Reid shuts the government down, what he will be saying is, "American families don't get treated as well as we treat giant corporations." Giant corporations don't have to suffer, get a delay on the horns from Obamacare. But hardworking American families, he's going to insist that they suffer now."

Cruz, who last week made headlines with an epic 21-hour filibuster-like speech on the Senate floor railing against Obama's landmark health care law, continued his crusade.

"The American people overwhelming reject Obamacare," Cruz said. "They understand it's not working. The only people who aren't listening to the argument are the career politicians in Washington. It's Harry Reid who wants to use brute political force."

CONTROL .......

After some more thought, one of the main things that THEY ..... are attempting to accomplish, concerning the entire population of the country is CONTROL.

They control the income of many of us, which is our MONEY. They want to control our HEALTH CARE. They are keeping an eye on our computer usage, so they want to control the INTERNET. Through our internet usage, they can, somewhat, control our FAMILY. Many utilities are having problems, they are closing, it could lead to government takeover, so thus, control of our UTILITIES. Add all these things up, and more, and, they will control our LIFE.

Historically, CONTROL of population has been used successfully for the purpose, not in the long run, so there must be some shortcomings to CONTROL. Perhaps it is those who want the control.

A puppet is only as good as the person who controls the strings .................

Police: Daughter Killed Pa. Mom With Shotgun

Just another shooting story ..............

A two-decade family feud came to a violent end when a man shot dead the two home invaders that killed his wife and son, not knowing the assailants included his long-estranged daughter, authorities said Sunday.

Though the investigation of Friday's shootings continues, authorities said it appears Josephine and Jeffrey Ruckinger planned to murder her family at their rural central Pennsylvania home — but it remains unclear what exactly led to the deadly confrontation.

"They parked at the bottom of a long driveway, and walked up, heavily armed," said Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan.

Josephine Ruckinger was armed with a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun and her husband had a Derringer pistol and a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun as they approached the Frew family home in Ashville, about 40 miles southwest of State College, according to investigators.

John Frew, his wife Roberta, and their son John Jr., 47, had just returned from dinner out, and were watching TV in the living room of the white mobile home when there was a knock at the door, authorities said.

Police say Roberta, 64, answered the door, and cried out something like "Oh my God, they have guns!" before her daughter shot her at point-blank range. John Jr. then may have attempted to arm himself with a gun, but Jeffrey Ruckinger shot him multiple times in the chest, killing him, police said.

The elder Frew, 67, grabbed a .22 revolver and came out from the bedroom to find the daughter he didn't initially recognize pointing the shotgun at him. Frew fired once, hitting her in the head, then turned and exchanged fire with Jeffrey Ruckinger, killing him. He then called police.

Josephine Ruckinger was still alive when police arrived, but later died at an area hospital. John Frew was not hurt.

Callihan said that the preliminary investigation suggests that the elder Frew and his family were victims "of a pre-planned murder" plot, and that he acted in self-defense. Police also found a can of gas and lighter fluid in the Ruckingers' car.

Ballistics and toxicology tests are pending, investigators said.

Authorities are still exploring possible motives, but say there may have been burglaries and robberies at the Frew residence in the past.

A relative, Virginia Cruse, said the daughter and mother did not get along, but that she had no idea what spawned Friday's tragedy. The daughter had "a hatred toward the family," she said.

When Josephine was about 20, she and a boyfriend trashed her parents' home and stole items including a pistol, then fled to Pittsburgh, Cruse said. After that, she said, "more or less, they disowned her."

Louisiana pastor shot to death during sermon; suspect is ex-deacon

Pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr. was shot as he led a Friday worship service at Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center in Lake Charles, located in southwestern Louisiana, according to a statement from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Harris fell to the ground, authorities said; then the suspect, Woodrow Karey Jr., 53, walked up to him and fired again.

Karey, a former deacon at the church, fled but called police to turn himself in. Sheriff's deputies arrested him one block away, according to the statement.

Karey, who has no known criminal history, faces a charge of second-degree murder. Bail was set at $1 million, a spokesman for the Calcasieu Correctional Center told the Los Angeles Times.

Harris was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter, Talisha Harris, told the Associated Press that her family is puzzled by the motive of the gunman, who she said left the church four years ago.

More than 50 members of the congregation witnessed the slaying, sheriff’s spokeswoman Kim Myers told The Times.

Police are still interviewing witnesses and investigating possible motives, Myers said.

Florida Men Charged With Fraud In Super Bowl Laser Scam

The Securities and Exchange Commission charged two men from South Florida with defrauding senior citizens and other investors out of millions of dollars as part of a bizarre scam that involved the NFL, the Super Bowl, and some kind of green laser technology.

The SEC announced the charges in a press release this morning:
The SEC alleges that Peter Kirschner of Delray Beach, Fla. and his business partner Stuart Rubens of North Miami struck an agreement with Thought Development Inc. (TDI) to solicit investors and sell unregistered company stock to help the Miami Beach-based company raise capital. TDI states that its signature invention is a laser-line system that generates a green line on a football field that is visible as a first-down marker not only on television, but also within the stadium to players, fans, and officials. TDI claims its technology would decrease the time needed by officials to determine first downs and generate more time to be sold to television advertisers.

The SEC alleges that through sales agents paid by their company Premiere Consulting, Kirschner and Rubens schemed to misrepresent to investors that their money would be used to develop TDI’s technology and fund a purported IPO of its stock. Instead, 75 percent of the offering proceeds were retained by Premiere Consulting or paid to sales agents through undisclosed commissions and fees. Investors also were falsely promised that TDI’s laser-line technology would be used during NFL games, and one individual invested an additional $75,000 because a sales agent lied and said that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell purchased the technology for use in the 2013 Super Bowl. TDI did not have any agreements with the NFL or any team to feature its technology during football games, let alone at the Super Bowl.

“Kirschner and Rubens used boiler rooms and high-pressure sales tactics to swindle seniors into believing they could help revolutionize the way we watch football,” said Eric I. Bustillo, Director of the SEC’s Miami Regional Office. “But these fraudsters merely did an end run with investor money.”

I had one of these .. only car I ever loved ..................

Let's go to the races...............

I have gotten into a number of discussions/arguments, about auto racing. I have been attending races since back in the 40's, more recently, watching them on TV. Why do millions of people flock to tracks each year.

My opinion, the anticipation of seeing an accident. Not for the thrill of seeing expensive machines race around a track, but to see them crash.

You say no, just look at the commercials, they show continuous crashes, close calls in the pits, cars spinning out of control and crashing into each other. They know what brings the crowds in. Not a long line of boring cars zooming around the track, that actually is boring. What brings the crowd to its feet, a wreck, a crash, cars flying all over the track, the more involved, the better.

If it wasn't for the "anticipation" of a wreck, we could just go sit on an overpass somewhere and watch the traffic go by, free, for nothing.

The first racing name that comes to mind, Dale Earnhardt, he was killed in a wreck. Many of the other drivers names are forgotten.

I remember Grandpappy Booker, saw him killed in a wreck, probably late 40's, Funks Speedway, Dayton, Ohio. The top photo shows the old dirt track, which I vaguely remember, saw a race or two on dirt, then they paved it. Open wheeled, no roll cages. Drivers worked someplace during the week, raced on the weekends. I guess some were starting to do it as  a profession in the late 40's

Some drove "midgets" on Friday night, stock cars on Saturday, and the sprints, pictured above on Sunday.

Why?

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A car bomb exploded on a crowded street in northwestern Pakistan Sunday, killing 37 people in the third blast to hit the troubled city of Peshawar in a week, officials said.

The latest explosion appeared to have been a bomb planted in a parked car and detonated by remote control, said police officer Zahid Khan. It went off in a crowded market that is the city's oldest bazaar near a mosque and a police station, officials said.

The blast damaged the mosque and nearby shops and caused many vehicles to go up in flames, said police officer Nawaz Khan.

The city's top government official, Sahibzada Anees, said 37 had died while 75 were under treatment at the city's Lady Reading Hospital.

WHY? What flaw is embedded in the human soul that triggers a desire to bomb, kill and maim fellow human beings?

Sunday Morning .... my BP is up

Sunday morning, watching some of the "political" shows.

I have to admit, they make me sick.

Ask a question, tell me what I I I I I I I want to hear. David Gregory, why anyone would appear on his show is beyond me. If you are in to that, go see Madam Lazonga and let you hang you up and beat you with a whip, don't let David do it.

They are not talk shows, they are "give me the answer I want because I know it all and I love to hear myself talk ......... shows."

WHY does anyone listen to them. If all these damn TV personalities (originally announcers) are so smart why ton't they run for office? .......... OH, a pay cut?

Can anyone say ........... MODERATOR?

NY to aid Sandy victims with flood insurance woes

By DAVID B. CARUSO — Associated Press

NEW YORK — New York will use part of its share of billions of dollars in federal Superstorm Sandy aid to "fully compensate" storm victims who had flood insurance claims denied because of a hard-to-understand rule barring payments for damage caused by earth movement during a flood, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday.

Details of the program still have to be released, but news of the state's aid offer was greeted with joy by homeowners like Stephen Parke and Michele Mittleman, whose house in Freeport, on one of the bays that line Long Island's Atlantic coast, was wrecked beyond repair by Sandy's storm surge.

The house took on four feet of oil-soaked water and had to be demolished after the storm, Mittleman said. But the family was paid only half of their $180,000 flood insurance policy after the Federal Emergency Management Agency ruled that damage to the foundation was the result of "the flood contributing to differential movement of supporting soils."

New York Times reports that NSA uses collected data to map out a person’s social connections

By Associated Press, Published: September 28

WASHINGTON — For almost three years the National Security Agency has been tapping the data it collects to map out some Americans’ social connections, allowing the government to identify their associates, their locations at certain times, their traveling companions and other personal information, The New York times reported.

Citing documents provided by former NSA systems analyst Edward Snowden, the Times reported that the NSA began allowing the analysis of phone call and e-mail logs in November 2010 to examine some Americans’ networks of associations for foreign intelligence purposes after NSA officials lifted restrictions on the practice. The newspaper posted the report on its website Saturday.

A January 2011 memorandum from the spy agency indicated that the policy shift was intended to help the agency “discover and track” connections between intelligence targets overseas and people in the United States, the Times reported.

The documents Snowden provided indicated that the NSA can augment the communications data with material from public, commercial and other sources, including bank codes, insurance information, Facebook profiles, passenger manifests, voter registration rolls and GPS location information, as well as property records and unspecified tax data, the paper reported.

NSA officials declined to say how many Americans have been caught up in the effort, including people involved in no wrongdoing, the Times reported. The documents do not describe what has resulted from the scrutiny, which links phone numbers and e-mails in a “contact chain” tied directly or indirectly to a person or organization overseas that is of foreign intelligence interest, the paper reported.

And they talk about it with a straight face ................

Some late night thoughts on Obamacare. Has anyone ever read it? Analyzed it? Understood it? Has ANY idea of the cost?

I have not read it, I have only seen excerpts of it, I do know how it is going to effect us, financially, not good, as a matter of fact, I have seen nothing in it or about it that has any resemblance of "doing any good" to this country. I honestly do not see how anyone can say anything good about it, if they understand it at all.

I have to wonder, too, when was it all conceived and written? It had to be "years" in the making. Who wrote it. Is its origin the same as the Book of Mormon. Did Obama go to the "garden" and there, under a giant oak tree, was a stack of discs, maybe even 3.5 floppy discs, or some of the other sizes we used prior to the present disc, or even those little plug things and hold so much information.

Who could have written it? I think it was "divine." Maybe Obama just visited the library in Washington, walked up to the desk, and .... "Um, hi, ah, well, to be honest, I ah, well, I wanna start some kinda health system here in the country, and, ah, well, you got anything like that?"

"Really, from Canada you say, hey, that might work."

"A what, I don't got no effen library card, I'm the president, what do you mean of what, the country, right here, I am Obama."

"Well don't forget it again, I can only have the book for two weeks, I may need it longer than that, how much if I keep it longer .................. that much."

Now we know how it happened, he checked the book out of the library, took it home, had his kids check it out, found a company in India to keyboard it and get it on a disc, then, took the disc to NSA, told them it was highly classified, the took it, changed wording where necessary, and let him know it was done..

"Mr. president, we have that all done for you, changed all the Canada's to USA's and other things where it applied, we have the cover done, what do you want to call it ........?"

"Ah, Barack's .... no, BO for better health, no, I don't like that, what, USA Good Health, no, don't like that, how about Barackcare ............. let me get back with you ................?

Republicans will move ahead with plan to delay Obamacare, making government shutdown more likely

House Republicans are expected to vote Saturday on a proposal that funds the government through Dec. 15, delays the federal health care law known as Obamacare for one year and repeals the medical device tax, a move that sets up a showdown with Senate Democrats that could result in a government shutdown next week.

Members of the Republican conference met Saturday afternoon in a private meeting where leaders presented the plan and listened to opinions from rank-and-file members. Lawmakers emerged from the meeting to say that the conference was united on the proposal.

The House also will vote on a separate bill that ensures that the U.S. military is funded in the event of a shutdown.

Congress must agree to a federal spending bill by Tuesday, or the federal government will partially shut down. The Senate bill would extend current spending levels only through Nov. 15. Democrats say that time frame would provide a month for Congress to pass a larger budget deal before the end of the year and replace the automatic, sequestration cuts now in effect.

Stabbed fan's dad to speak

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The father of a Dodgers fan fatally stabbed Wednesday during a melee following a Giants baseball game is planning to make a public plea for witnesses after San Francisco's district attorney said he lacks evidence to charge a suspect who has been released.

A family member said the victim's father plans to speak outside the Giants' stadium at noon before the scheduled 1:05 p.m. PDT Sunday game with the San Diego Padres.

The suspect, Michael Montgomery, 21, was released from custody Friday night after District Attorney George Gascon said police had insufficient evidence to charge him in the death of Jonathan Denver, 24.

Gascon said police had not spoken with any independent witnesses who may have witnessed the fight Wednesday night. The victim's father, Robert Preece, believes someone may have recorded the melee with mobile phones, said Preece's sister Jill Preece Haro.

"We have reason to believe someone recorded this," Haro said in a phone interview, adding that Denver's father and others with him saw bystanders were using cellphone cameras. "We're calling on them to come forward to help both families find out what happened."

Haro said the victim's father, who works as security guard at Dodger Stadium, and other family members were motivated to travel from his Southern California home to make his public plea after Montgomery's release and Gascon's explanation for not charging Montgomery.

"The San Francisco Police Department has provided us an initial investigation," Gascon said in a wen statement Friday night. "However, not all witnesses have been interviewed, nor have any independent witnesses of the incident been interviewed. We have requested this and other evidence be collected before we can make an assessment on whether charges should be filed."

Hard to believe .....................

WASHINGTON (AP) — The No. 2 officer at the military command in charge of all U.S. nuclear war-fighting forces is suspected in a case involving counterfeit gambling chips at a western Iowa casino and has been suspended from his duties, officials said.

Navy Vice Adm. Tim Giardina has not been arrested or charged, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation special agent David Dales said Saturday. The state investigation is ongoing.

Giardina, deputy commander at U.S. Strategic Command, was suspended on Sept. 3 and is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, a Strategic Command spokeswoman said.

The highly unusual action against a high-ranking officer at Strategic Command was made more than three weeks ago but not publicly announced at that time. The command is located at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Neb.

Air Force Gen. Robert Kehler, who heads Strategic Command, suspended Giardina, according to the command's top spokeswoman, Navy Capt. Pamela Kunze. Giardina is still assigned to the command but is prohibited from performing duties related to nuclear weapons and other issues requiring a security clearance, she said.

Kehler has recommended to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel that Giardina be reassigned, Kunze said. Giardina has been the deputy commander of Strategic Command since December 2011. He is a career submarine officer and prior to starting his assignment there was the deputy commander and chief of staff at U.S. Pacific Fleet.

DCI agents stationed at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa, discovered the counterfeit chips, Dales said. He would not say when the discovery was made or how much in counterfeit chips was found, only that "it was a significant monetary amount."

Council Bluffs is located across the Missouri River from Omaha.

"We were able to detect this one pretty quickly and jump on it," Dales said. He declined to give specifics on how authorities determined that casino chips had been counterfeited or how Giardina might have been involved.

Give credit where credit is due ......

It's 9 in the morning, Saturday, on TV, four guys, talking and talking and talking about football, trying to make each game of the day and night, "nail biters." Plus, they try to make each one of them appear to know what they are talking about. College Game Day, from Athens, Georgia today.

They are surrounded by fans, plus, and I think the secret to the success of the whole show, some guy, in a blue shirt today, with a couple of laptops in front of him, helping make the guys look good.

Chris Fowler hosts with Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and some occasional guests. Corso, the "comic relief" arm of the show, in college was the roommate of Burt Reynolds, did some coaching, he last job at Indiana for nine years or so. Very colorful, the show would be flat without him.

Then an oddity. Desmond Howard went to Michigan, Kirk Herbstreit went to Ohio State, arch rivals. Howard is a Heisman recipient.

Fowler keeps his fingers on the pulse of the show, and does a remarkable job keeping the show moving along. They have guests, coaches and players, and amazingly, create interest in a potential game, that they know will be boring. Last week the majority of the games around the country were, well, no-brainers and they had their work cut out for them.

They desperately tried hard to inject excitement into the Ohio State-Florida A&M game, OSU was favored by 60 points. OSU won by 74, I think, you would have thought it was an upset.

The banter of the four is great though, three hours of just talking ain't easy, they do a good job.

The student drawn signs are great, they get a lot of time and coverage.

Mariska Hargitay Raises $700K at Hollywood Benefit

The "Law and Order: SVU" actress drums up support to end domestic violence and sexual assault: "We're going to change the world."

Actors and industry leaders gathered alongside actress Mariska Hargitay and the Joyful Heart Foundation at Milk Studios on Thursday night to spread awareness and raise funding to end domestic violence at the actress’ JoyRocks event.

“Our goal is that we would leave you informed, deeply inspired and a little less rich,” host Peter Hermann said as he welcomed hundreds of guests to his wife’s benefit dinner.

The Law and Order: SVU actress, whose season 15 premiere bested its rivals and drew in 9.5 million viewers on Wednesday, welcomed the likes of Hilary Swank, Christopher Meloni, Maria Bello, Marcia Gay Harden, Dick Wolf, Bob Greenblatt, Jennifer Salke and many more to her Joyful Heart Foundation’s benefit dinner and the launch of the "NO MORE" public service announcement.

“Tonight is about brave souls, fearlessness, stepping up, being engaged and no more bystanding. No more. Here’s a room full of courage, and it just inspires the shit out of me. Yeah, I said it,” Hargitay told The Hollywood Reporter about her foundation’s goals: healing, empowering survivors and shedding light.

From Runway to Religion: Models Turn to Jesus

See you in church Sunday .............

Kylie Bisutti was the "It" girl. At the top of her game, she beat out 10,000 women to win the Victoria's Secret model search competition.

But in a stunning twist, she decided overnight to ditch the runway for Jesus.

“I was sent out after that on different photo shoots and having my pictures end up on pornographic sites,” said Bisutti. “And when I brought it to my modeling agency, they basically just said, 'Well, all the Victoria's Secret models have pictures on pornographic websites, what do you expect?'”

Now Bisutti is holding an enlightenment speaking tour.

“I'm not doing those things anymore,” she told an audience of parents to pre-teens at Mosaic Christian Church in Sacramento, Calif. “I can find forgiveness in Christ for it and now speak out against it.”

Bisutti is part of a growing number of models ditching the spotlight for Christ and cashing in with a book, a new Christian clothing line and her nationwide speaking tours.

“In our society, the motto is that sex sells,” she said.

I applaud what she is doing, in no way belittling her .. we need many more, in all walks of life, offering their testament.

UN Council orders Syria chemical arms destroyed

United Nations (United States) (AFP) - The UN Security Council unanimously passed a landmark resolution Friday ordering the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons and condemning a murderous poison gas attack in Damascus.

The major powers overcame a prolonged deadlock to approve the council's first resolution on the Syrian conflict, which the UN says has left more than 100,000 dead in 30 months.

UN leader Ban Ki-moon called the "historic" resolution "the first hopeful news on Syria in a long time."

Resolution 2118, the result of bruising negotiations between the United States and Russia, gives international binding force to a plan drawn up by the pair to eliminate President Bashar al-Assad's chemical arms.

There are no immediate sanctions over a chemical weapons attack confirmed by the UN. But it allows for a new vote on possible measures if the Russia-US plan is breached.

US President Barack Obama hailed the resolution as a "potentially huge victory for the international community." He said before the vote that there would be "consequences" for any failure by Assad to keep a promise to follow the plan.

You have to smile at this ............

If you are admitted by an emergency room doctor it is treated as outpatient care where hospital costs are not covered. This is only the tip of the iceberg for Obama Care. Just wait to see what happen in this year and 2014!

“Age 76 today, I went to the Dr. for my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that my insurance takes care of it.
She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things away for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. She was brushing at tears and said, ‘Some day they too will get old.  I am so very sorry!’

Please, for the sake of many good people, be informed, please.  YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS.  At age 76 when you most need it most, you are not eligible for cancer treatment * see page 272

What Nancy Pelosi didn't want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed. Remember she said, "We have to pass the Bill so that we can see what's in it." Well, here it is.

THE CARE BILL HB 3200
JUDGE KITHIL IS THE 2ND OFFICIAL WHO HAS OUTLINED THESE PARTS OF THE CARE BILL.

Judge Kithil of Marble Falls , TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200
Please read this....... especially the reference to pages 58 & 59
JUDGE KITHIL wrote:

Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN).

Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (What?????)

Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees.
This is what they do in Sweden too. I know because Alf's daughter Ann is an OBGYN, and her husband, Thorsten, is a surgeon.

Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age.

Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling)

Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order
.

HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on to identify:

"Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress.

No wonder they did not see the need to read it...doesn't apply to them!!! HOLY TOLEDO !!! THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO STAND UP TO WASHINGTON!  NOW! THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!

All of the above should give you the ammo you need to oppose Obamacare. Please send this information on to all of your email contacts.

Senior Citizens take a good look at Obama Care. We are definitely in trouble.

Watching Michael's new show, brought back a lot of memories, who his wife is, what she played on Family Ties, had forgotten a lot. Some well known names who appeared before their stardom:
  • Judith Light appeared in Season 2 as a colleague of Steven, unsuccessfully attempting to seduce him.
  • Tom Hanks appeared during the first and second seasons as Elyse's alcoholic younger brother Ned.[4]
  • Geena Davis portrayed inept housekeeper Karen.
  • River Phoenix played a fourteen-year-old math genius who develops a crush on Jennifer after coming to tutor Alex. Phoenix's sister, Rain, would also appear as one of Jennifer's friends in a different episode.

Nipples

Speaking of "nipples" as I did in the last post, when, why and how, did the "nipple" become such an erogenous, mysterious, part of the human anatomy. All of the breast can be exposed, but not the nipple. Actually, 99% of the female anatomy can be exposed, but not the nipple. Why is that?

In some cultures, the entire female anatomy is exposed on a daily basis, and nothing is thought of it, it's the way they always knew things to be. If "Mothers milk" flowed through a woman's finger, feeding in public would not be a problem. What culture, when and where, was the breast determined to be so, mysterious, forbidden for men to see. Thirty women can shower, naked, exposed to each other, but forbidden to male eyes.

I suppose if Eve had her nose covered, well, you can see what I mean.

A leading Pediatrician was once asked the mail difference between mothers milk and cow's milk. He stated it was the "cute" packaging of the mothers milk.

I am sure Alfred Hitchcock liked that theory. He was a great believer in "anticipation." Anticipation of the event happening, or being seen, was much greater than the event of seeing it. Anticipation.

In regards to a woman's breast, anticipation, 98% can be revealed, but never that other 2%.

Gypsy Rose Lee and other "berlicue" gals knew that. Pasty's were invented for that reason, show them all but the ........... shhhhh, ........... mipple, that is what Burlesque was built on. Show it all ..... but the nipple.

Must be the Friday afternoon, will try to find other topics in the future ...........

New term learned today ................

I Googled "collective chaos," went to images, and she was one of the first images. It was not what I had in mind, but I can't always be right, I guess "collective chaos" means something different to them, "tattooed redheads should not topless, wearing pink shorts held up by little black suspenders wide enough to cover up their  nipples." Not what I thought.

I was watching an old movie today, war flick, Gregory Peck was in Burma, there was a bombing, people were running everywhere. My wife is a little hard of hearing so she has the TV to show what is being said, whatever that is called. Kinda neat, I can watch the movie with the sound turned down.

Anyway, that scene, they are all running, screaming, no dialogue showing on the screen, but this term comes up on the screen, "collective chaos." Bells started ringing when I saw that, an explanation of this country, today. COLLECTIVE CHAOS.

"Hey, how is everything in the United States?"

"We're experiencing Collective Chaos, thank you."

More commentary, from the decks of the Titanic, comparatively speaking

Does any, I mean, ANYONE, understand OBAMACARE? My wife does, a little, she know what our annual cost is going to be. It is drastically going to change the way we live, we will have to do without some "necessities" to cover it. And then, if I understand it all, when I need care, I may not get it because of my age, and I certainly will have no input on where or when I receive it?

Does NO ONE understand that it may bankrupt the country, or they know, and because the explanation was offered by a silk tongued, suave, beer drinkin golfer, that they don't care? Do they not know that this may be the final "brick" in the opening that will seal our fate, forever. What does it take for anyone to see that in a short time we will be TOTALLY dependent upon the government for EVERYTHING.

They have sent our jobs overseas, so there is little to NO work. The best jobs right now, all you college seniors listen to this ......... go to work for the government, at any level, or, go in to politics. YOU will not even need your college education to enter, it will do you no good. Pick a party, get involved, run for office, and your future is guaranteed. GM can't say that, Ford can't say that, only the GOVERNMENT can say that. Only they, can offer you ................... SECURITY ...................

We all have been clothed in a "veil of ........ not sure what the veil is." We  hear, yet we don't hear, we see, yet we don't see. We are living in the same world of ............. whatever ................. they the Germans were apparently living in the 30's and 40's .... "We did not know any of that was going on!"

Here, in the 2013's and the 2020's, "We did not know any of that was going on!"

"How much more a year, you say, my healthcare is going to cost. OMG?"

"Where is the welfare office, how much will I get and when will I start getting it. I know, I went out looking for a job. Everything is closed. The only thing open is the hospital and the welfare office. The unemployment office closed three weeks ago.  Oh, you say the "food pantry" is hiring, and I can fun for city council, or may, WOW!"

"Why didn't he call it HEALTHCARE instead of OBAMACARE, was that an ego thing?"

One last comment. I have advocated all along that we would not have another presidential election. I am sticking by that. I think the "wheels are in motion" as we speak, that will eliminate the need for Obama to have another election, to retain leadership of this country. Remember, there was NO way he could beat Hillary. There was NO way he could get elected. There was NO way he could get re-elected. There was NO way he could beat, whathisname, the Mormon. There was NO way his healthcare bill would pass. But, all of these things came to pass .... time will tell.

Obama's Field of Dreams ..... the Stairway to Socialism

On Tuesday, the race to enroll Americans in the health insurance marketplaces established by President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care law begins — and it appears the Obama administration has a steep hill to climb to explain what exactly the exchanges are.

One recent poll shows that nearly half of Americans have never even heard of the exchanges, even though millions of young and healthy people must enroll in them for Obamacare to work. And much of the outreach by the White House and allied groups on the issue has just started in the past few weeks, despite three and a half years of criticism that Obama has not adequately sold the country on his signature piece of legislation.

Meanwhile, conservative groups have poured millions of dollars into advertising and other campaigns to discourage people — especially young people — from buying the insurance, in the hopes Obamacare will fail.

The president and his team have emphasized the insurance will be so affordable that Americans will decide for themselves to buy it, despite the messages they’re being bombarded with from the opposing side. The White House has poured its time and energy into building and promoting a central website where people who live in the 36 states where the federal government manages part or all of the exchanges can purchase insurance and see if they qualify for tax breaks.

The president is essentially taking an “if you build it, they will come” stance.

Senate puts Obamacare funding back into spending bill and sends to House Republicans

With only three days before the deadline for Congress to avoid a government shutdown, the Democrat-controlled Senate on Friday passed a bill to fund the government through Nov. 15, but stripped out a House Republican measure to defund the 2010 federal health care law known as Obamacare.
The end-of-the-week, 54-44 party-line vote sets the stage for a showdown with House Republicans, who are demanding that Obamacare lose its funding as a condition of keeping the government open. Congress must agree to spending levels by midnight Tuesday, or the federal government will partially shut down.
In the weeks preceding the vote, a small group of Senate Republicans, notably Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, actively campaigned to convince their colleagues to refuse to fund the government unless Obamacare is defunded. On Friday, they found few takers.
The conservative lawmakers used a filibuster to force the Senate to take a procedural vote to end debate, which required a 60-vote threshold to pass. That move gave Republicans a chance to block Obamacare funding — albeit at a risk of shutting down the government — and they called on fellow Republicans to join them.

New course offering at our local Vocational School

After a "think tank" session at our local Vocational School, in order to satisfy the largest need in our county, it was determined that this course would be the most useful.

WELFARE TRAINING 101

The Welfare training program is a full day offering, at our campus, offered to all students. Enrollment is open to all students, but can not be taken if enrolled in an other courses that might be considered as "productive."

Prepare for an exciting career in Welfare through an introduction to filling out forms, system abuse, income increase through child bearing, program selection, discovering free programs, landlord manipulation, food stamp conservation, turning food stamps in to cash, (the ins and outs), Social Worker manipulation, the vast world of FREE, mileage reimbursement, program limits, and the Theory of Welfare.

Second year students will be given the opportunity to Apply for Welfare, fill out all necessary forms, learn how to apply for non-existent jobs, increase monthly income and participate in a workshop and actually be interviewed by social workers. Facial expressions, sincere body language, appropriate gestures and voice modulation will also be discussed. Graduates of this course will be able to take full advantage of the welfare system, and receive all available benefits. There are no Prerequisites for this course, however, living in a present "Welfare Environment," or a course in dramatic acting and drama are considered helpful, but not necessary. Graduates of this course will be proficient in the following areas:

  • free or assisted living
  • food stamps
  • child care
  • fully paid medical
  • unemployment benefits
  • free education opportunities
  • grant awareness
  • demonstration tactics
  • interview manipulation
  • sign up for welfare on line
Welfare Training through hands on experience is aimed to provide the student with all the essentials to become a serious, disciplined welfare recipient. This program requires that students develop a knowledge of the welfare system that will enable them to attain a comfortable existence without the need of working or exerting any energies other than the normal manipulation of the system. This program, combined with Drama 1 and 2. and Debate 102, in conjunction with two years participation in an Optimists Youth Program, will afford the graduate the potential of a high six-figure income, plus additional benefits and eliminate the need for involvement in the "workplace" or the necessity of employment.

Cost of this course is defrayed through a State and Federal Grant provided without expense through a tax-exempt endowment fund provided by anonymous donors presently enrolled in the welfare system.

The "Socializing" of America

A gorgeous morning here in Newark, Ohio, a taste of Fall in the air. Have gone through the morning ritual with Caleb. He sees me get up, takes my place on the bed, hears me make coffee, seems to know just when I have poured a cup, sat down, put the laptop on my lap, comfortable and settled, just ready to write something, then he comes out, plops his butt down, sits there, and gives me that "stare" ....... "Well, I'm ready to go out."

So we do our morning walk out in the yard, I do it  barefooted as long as I can. My feet now ache a little, the grass and dew were a little on the chilly side. I would recommend that everyone start the day with a barefoot walk in their yard, some good "communion" there between the feet and the grass and the dew. It's a little "humbling," which is a good way to start the day. Of course, after we come back in, Caleb is waiting for his "treat," some package of denture, gums, breath stuff we get him. He loves them. I bought he some new ones the other day, wife noticed they were for a cat, she says it is not good to feed anything for a cat to a dog. She says I can eat them, but not the dog.

My concern of the day, I have been doing a little research and reading and wondering, and the amount of appropriate material is staggering, so much that one overlooks the details. And somehow, we have become "veiled" from the truth. The overall plan is so diabolical, that included in the "plan" is a "blinder" so no one can see the plan. How great is that. Somewhat like the man who every day would leave work pushing a wheelbarrow. The guards would search and search, and never found anything that he was stealing. He finally retired, and the guards asked him, "We know you were stealing something, we searched and searched and never found anything in your wheelbarrow. Please tell us, what were you stealing?"

"Wheelbarrows."

I keep trying to remember talks I had with my Dad, the Doctor, back in the 40's and 50's, and his concerns with Socialized Medicine. Even back then, he saw it coming, knew it would happen, someday. He could see the "quality" of medical care, diminishing greatly. He foresaw it becoming "BIG BUSINESS." I don't think he even anticipated the changes and advancements in "technology" which have skyrocketed costs to astronomical numbers.

Dependency, we are depending on the government for many things, if not, in some cases, everything. The same "government" that sent all of our jobs overseas, is the same government which is supporting all those who lost their jobs, and which supports many today, and want to be involved in ALL of our healthcare. Perhaps their sending the jobs overseas was a "start" to our demise.

When did this diabolical plan go into effect? Who laid all the groundwork? Or, is it just a "natural progression" of a democracy, the concept of which is "flawed" and this is a natural progression.

Looking ahead

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately, and some praying.

I would like Him, to reveal to me, where, I am going to die. I know it may sound odd, I am old, concerned, have prayed about it, thought about it, and would really like to know, "Where am I going to die?"

My wife is aware of my concerns, I have discussed it with her. Last evening, she asked me, "Why do you want to know where you are going to die?"

"Simple, I won't go there!"

Watchdog gets details of Syrian chemical arsenal

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — Technical experts at the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons were reviewing Saturday a further disclosure from Syria about its chemical weapons program.

A day earlier, the body that polices the global treaty outlawing chemical weapons said it had received a preliminary submission from Syria.

No details have been released of what is in the Syrian declarations, and OPCW spokesman Michael Luhan refused to give any more information about the latest submission.

Under a U.S.-Russia agreement aimed at swiftly ridding Syria of its chemical arsenal, Damascus had until Saturday to submit a full list to the organization of its chemical weapons and production facilities so they can be secured and destroyed.

U.S. officials said last week that Washington and Moscow agreed that Syria had roughly 1,000 metric tons (1,100 tons) of chemical weapons agents and precursors, including blister agents, such as sulfur and mustard gas and nerve agents like sarin.

In the aftermath of the U.N. report that concluded sarin had been used in an Aug. 21 attack in Damascus, the Hague-based chemical weapons watchdog is looking for ways to fast-track moves to secure and destroy Syria's arsenal of poison gas and nerve agents as well as its production facilities.

United Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Pilot Suffers Fatal Heart Attack

A United Airlines flight from Houston to Seattle was diverted after its captain reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack during the flight. The flight was rerouted to the Boise Airport in Idaho and landed there t 8 p.m. Thursday.

Patti Miller, Boise Airport spokeswoman, confirmed to ABC News United Airlines Flight 1603 made an emergency landing at the airport Thursday evening. Miller says the captain of the flight experienced a medical emergency, which was an apparent heart attack.

Seattle ABC affiliate KOMO reported that a passenger on the flight said a crew member made an in-flight announcement on the loudspeaker asking if anyone on board was a physician.

"We got a man down, chest compressions going on right now. I'm not sure too much right now the status," A United crew member said in a recorded conversation with air traffic control. "Can an ambulance and maybe some air stairs meet us on the runway?"

"The Boeing 737 landed safely, and paramedics met the plane upon arrival and transported the crew member to the hospital," United Airlines said in a statement.

United would not comment on the pilot's condition. A spokesperson from Saint Alphonsus hospital, where the captain was taken, confirmed to ABC News that the pilot died.

BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG ..... CLICK, CLICK,, CLICK, CLICK

Watching Roy Rogers, after seeing the Lone Ranger.

Why is it, they take their old six shooter, out, do a whole lot of shootin, and then, no more bullets, it's empty, they pull the trigger, click, again, click, they look at the cun, aim, shoot again, click, look at it, aim, click, then, their adversary is a hundred yards away, and they throw the gun at him.

I think if I was the bad guy, I would kinda automatically count in my head, 1 .... 2 .... 3 .... 4 ..... 5 ....... 6 ...OH, I am out of bullets, perhaps I should reload, rather than just pull the trigger a few times to hear it click, click, click .......

Obama denounces 'irresponsible' health care critics

We are on the eve of Socialized Medicine, this slow process could be anticipated sixty years ago. I think it is one part of a diabolical plan that will lead to the demise of this country as we know it. This program is so complex that no one, no one, has seen the way it is unfolding. ... jbd

President Obama denounced "irresponsible" Republican critics of his health care law Thursday, saying efforts to "blackmail" him into changing the plan could trigger a government shutdown and a U.S. credit default.

"Now they're threatening steps that actually would badly hurt our entire economy," Obama said during a health care speech in Largo, Md.

The speech came on the same day the administration announced a change in the online rules for small businesses: Some small-business owners wishing to enroll in new health care exchanges opening Oct. 1 will not be able to do so online at first. Instead, they will have to mail or fax information in order to join exchanges, at least until Nov. 1.

The announcement drew jeers from Republicans who say Obama should delay the entire health care plan and noted his speech on the same day.

"Did anyone tell the president that his administration is delaying another piece of Obamacare before he tried swindling the American people again?" said Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus.

Bill Gates

Bill Gates gave a speech at a High School about eleven things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1
Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2
The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something
BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3
You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.
Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:
They called it opportunity.

Rule 6
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were:
So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation,
try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.
This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9
Life is not divided into semesters.
You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.
(Do that on your own time.)

Rule 10
: Television is NOT real life. In real life, people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11
Be nice to nerds.
Chances are you'll end up working for one.
