Colleges, how did they start, probably some thought they needed more education. OK, so we have one college, somewhere, all is well. Now, someone else started one, and now there are two. Mine is better than yours, and that is who it all got started. That is why the football coach makes more money than the president of the university, at least at Ohio State.
What would happen to education if they did away with athletics? What, go there to study? What if colleges just had academic buildings and dorms, no fraternities or sororities, just devoted four years to studying and learning.
The problem there, what is the greatest force we have in this country today? What drives us to do many of the things we do, to buy, to eat, how we live, the greatest force in our lives. Do you mean, yes, TV, whether you know it or not, is the most powerful force in the country today.
And, thanks to them, we all of these tremendous venues, called stadiums, where we can watch the games, which, in reality, are controlled by the guy on the sidelines, whose arm, controls the game. When it is raised, stop, when it comes down, play. "Go ahead you guys, the commercials are over." That is why many coaches make more than our president ..... all thanks to TV.
Maybe that is why, more and more, students are studying on the internet, they can get a degree, and be able to afford it.
College football could be our most important industry in the country today .... it makes many "wheels" possible and keeps them turning and well "oiled."

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
Television is one daylong commercial interrupted periodically by inept attempts to fill the airspace in between them.If you can't start a fire, perhaps your wood is wet ....
