Yes, I did see Marilyn once ..........

In answer to a question, yes, I did see Marilyn Monroe on a couple of occasions.  Probably in '60 or '61, they were filming some of the Misfits in Reno. I had an apartment a few blocks from downtown Reno and generally walked to work.

One morning, not too far from where I lived, I noticed a crowd forming, and then remembered that they were shooting some scenes around town for the movie, The Misfits. I watched a while as they took a hammer to a new Cadillac, to put a dent in it. I watched it all for a short time, but had to get to work. As I walked by, I looked up at the second floor of a house, and there she was, Marilyn Monroe, leaning out of a window, talking with Thelma Ritter. I got some other glimpses of her around Reno as they were shooting scenes for the movie.

I had a couple of friends who were in the movie, dealers at Harrah's, and got used as extras and were in the movie.

Hoffa???????? Still looking

So far, at least, the dirt beneath a driveway in Roseville, Mich., isn't turning up any sign that former Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa was buried there 37 years ago.

The first sample taken today as authorities check out the latest tip related to Hoffa's 1975 disappearance is "muddy and filled with water," Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said this morning, according to The Detroit News. "There are no visible human remains present."

The Detroit Free Press says the sample, "pulled out from six feet under a concrete slab was just a combination of clay and mud."

But the soil and another sample that's still to be collected will be tested at Michigan State University to see if there is any sign of human remains. Authorities expect initial results on Monday.

So, we can't say — yet — that Hoffa's definitely not there.

Friday Morning ..........

Two days away from turning 80 and a rather gloomy day in Ohio. Fall is in the air, leaves are turning color. Seasons changing are rather amazing when you think about it, all the things that happen on an annual basis, not everywhere, but at least here in Ohio. Makes you wonder what differences in people that make them choose one climate over another.

Speaking of Ohio, and the politicians certainly are. Politicians are costing various communities in Ohio a small fortune, additional security, cleanup, etc., and a few of those town are not too well off financially anyway. Why can't they spend some of those billions locally and help these towns out. If I was Mayor of a town either candidate wanted to appear in, it would be money up front. In the printing business it was always "money up front" for politicians. No one wants to pay a bill when they lose.

All the candidates are rehearsing and preparing for their impromptu debates. I can think of no greater waste off time, than two politicians debating each other, with prepared questions, the answers of which have been rehearsed. And in some cases, in boils down to which one seemed the most "comfortable." Or the one who "came off well." Their promises mean nothing, their intentions mean nothing, so their rhetoric means nothing.

I have lived through Hoover, for a short time, FDR for many years. I learned many "expletives" from my Father, referring to FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kennedy, fourteen presidents to be exact. I guess I remember FDR the most vividly, Reagan is in there also. I remember listening to FDR on the radio many times, perhaps that is why he is so vivid in my mind, and it was wartime.

Memories are great things, and I have many, some vivid, some fuzzy, but still there. Memories of good times are the most vivid. Memories when I was under stress are not so vivid, and that is probably a good thing, best to relive the good times and put the "not so good" times in the recesses of the mind.

The fun part of being 80 is looking forward to the date. The closer I get to the 30th of September, the less I look forward to it. The realization of being 80 starts sinking in, wow, that's old. Many more days behind than ahead.

But, few to no ripples on my pond today, my biggest worry right now, "What's for dinner?"

Bikini Basketball League Gearing Up For Inaugural Season

To all fans of the Lingerie Football League who are wondering about what they will watch when the season ends, you can stop worrying. The Bikini Basketball League is here.

The league consists of seven teams -- the Chicago Desire, the Orlando Lady Cats, the Miami Spice, the Los Angeles Ice, the Hollywood Hotties and the Atlanta Fleet Angels. Tryouts have already taken place in the different cities, and the league will get underway in the summer of 2013.

"This is a competitive basketball league, so we are definitely looking for girls that can really play," Miami Spice representatives told the Miami New Times. "It is also a bikini league in which the girls will be playing basketball in bikinis, so looking good in a bikini is a must."

While it certainly has taken its share of ridicule, the Lingerie Football League has actually produced some highlight-reel plays. Plus it has gained attention for hosting its Lingerie Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday.

The Nevada Lodge

In  answer to some questions, this is the Lodge as I remember it. Where the people are there at ground level was the main casino. They did have tables upstairs, but only opened them on certain occasions. Now, that was in '58, the Olympics were not for a few years, and I am sure by that time all floors were open and running. Fitz had not had it too long when I arrived from Ohio and went to work up there.

The North side of the lake, especially, was rather pristine and lovely. It basically had been a "Summer only" location until the onslaught of the Olympics loomed on the horizon. In '58, we pretty much had the North side all to ourselves. Not many customers yet. There were only a few clubs open, a drug store and that was about it. Many of the dealers lived down the hill in Tahoe City, I think it was, in California. There was not too much yet on the North side.

More on Keno in Reno

Some follow up on the Keno game.

I worked with a dealer, George, who had been around Reno for quite a few years. His Dad was retired Navy and lived in San Diego. George liked to gamble, and wrote a lot of Keno tickets.

One evening, while working, and on a break, wrote a $1.10 eight spot, I think at Harold's Club, on his next break he went back, won, came back and told the floor boss he was quitting, went back, picked up his $25,000, went to the train station, got a ticket on the next train for San Diego. It didn't arrive for a few hours.

George went home, packed, and headed for the train station to wait for the train. He decided to go to the Nevada Club for breakfast, which he did. They he decided to go to Harrah's and have a drink and wait for the train.

You guessed it, before the day was over, he lost the money, moved back in to his apartment, took a nap, and made his next shift at work. They knew him well enough to know that they thought he might be back to work.

I heard other stories of winners of the $25,000 who lost in back. A dishwasher from Harrah's did the same thing, win it, blow it, and go on with their lives

When, you ask?

Last night I was asked, "When did you work in Reno?"

My answer ........

"I worked in Reno in the days that you could walk up to the Keno counter, take a blank ticket, pick eight numbers, give the Keno writer your slip with the number picks and $1.10, take a seat at the bar, and wait for the numbers to be drawn."

If you picked all eight numbers, you would take your ticket, walk to the Keno counter, show them your winning ticket and ask for cash. They would go to the safe, take out stacks of money, and present you with $25,000.00, in cash. You would put the money in a paper bag, or perhaps a  cloth bag of some kind, perhaps give the writer a nice "toke," and walk out the door. You might even ask for a security guard to accompany you home, and they would generally oblige.

Those were the days .............

How nice is this?

Worldwide bacon shortage ‘unavoidable’

Is it pork-ageddon? Britain's National Pig Association has sounded the alarm that the world should brace for an "unavoidable" bacon and pork shortage next year.

The cause of the trouble is high pig-feed costs caused by what it describes in a press release as "the global failure of maize and soya harvests."

The organization notes that new data shows that pig herds are declining at a significant rate, not just in Britain, but around the world.

The way out of this coming catastrophe is to subsidize pig farmers to stem the loss of their herds, says the industry group. The organization has also launched a "Save Our Bacon" campaign, which encourages consumers to buy British pork products.

It's not just Europe that will be seeing shortages: The U.S. will also face a bacon shortage. The Guardian reports that the cost of bacon has doubled since 2006, and record droughts are to blame. Consumption of bacon is falling as prices have been rising.

"It's not that people don't want to eat pork, it's just that they increasingly can't afford to," economist Steve Meyer told the publication. "We've been warning about this for years. Now that we are talking about bacon, we've really got everyone's attention."

Sure do.

Another voice stilled ...............

With a string of gold albums, a hit TV series and the signature "Moon River," Andy Williams was a voice of the 1960s, although not the '60s we usually hear about.
"The old cliche says that if you can remember the 1960s, you weren't there," the singer once recalled. "Well, I was there all right, but my memory of them is blurred — not by any drugs I took but by the relentless pace of the schedule I set myself."
Williams' plaintive tenor, boyish features and easy demeanor helped him outlast many of the rock stars who had displaced him and such fellow crooners as Frank Sinatra and Perry Como. He remained on the charts into the 1970s, and continued to perform in his 80s at the Moon River Theatre he built in Branson, Mo. In November 2011, when Williams announced that he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer, he vowed to return to performing the following year: His 75th in show business.
Williams died Tuesday night at his home in Branson following a yearlong battle with the disease, his Los Angeles-based publicist, Paul Shefrin, said Wednesday. He was 84.

Always a good read .............

I have seen this before and each time I read it it brings a tear to my eye. It is always a good read, and certainly is "food for thought."

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its

Dedicated staff, he offered a question:
'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.
Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.
Where is the natural order of things in my son?'
The audience was stilled by the query.
The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:
Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.
I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning..'
Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt.. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.
In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.
Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?
Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.
However, as Shay stepped up to the
Plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.
The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.
The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.
As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.
The game would now be over.
The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.
Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.
Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.
Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!
          Run to first!'
Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.
He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.
Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'
Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.
By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball . The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.
He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.
Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.
All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'
Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!
          Shay, run to third!'
As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'
Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team
'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.
Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

The GAME is being ruined!

The NFL is turning into a bad joke with its replacement officials....
the game is too fast for them....
Green Bay had the Seattle game stolen from them on Monday night with a horrendous TD call (and no offensive interference call) on the game's last play....
time to settle the labor dispute with the regular officials, and fast....
one game after another has bad calls but this may have been the worst!

It happened at Harold's Club in Reno

I have seen a number of "versions" of this story, but I was working next door to Harold's Club and saw it happen from beginning to end.

A group of students from the University of Nevada thought they had come up with a "system" to beat the roulette wheel. They played the wheel 24 hours a day for almost a week. I cut through Harold's purposely to see how they were coming, as did hundreds of people from all over the area. They were a great draw.

After almost a week, I think it was, their winnings got up above 100 thousand dollars, which was a ton of money in those days. Harold Smith senior, saw them losing money, when they got back to 100 thousand, he put a cover on the table and told them to take their money and go home, and not to try to play in any club in Reno, as he was going to ask all the other clubs in town to not take their "action."

Why would Harold do that? Well it was in every newspaper in the world, about  the college students at HAROLD'S CLUB in RENO, who won $100,000.00. Probably a million or more in FREE advertising.

I have read other versions of this story, a crooked dealer, altering the height of the dividers and a few others, but, I was there and saw it happen, Pappy closed the table, told them to take their winnings, pay for their education and live happily ever after. I saw him put the cover on the table.

Now, you know the rest of the story.

If you're gonna be a sucker, be a silent one.

I was asked about an old incident the other day, happened at the Palace Club in Reno in the forties sometime during the war. A busy New Years Eve, a big crowd, many service personnel along with many from California up for the holidays.

Someone had the brilliant idea of sneaking under one of the crap tables, cutting a big hole in the money "drop box," and catching the money as is was dropped down into the table before it hit the floor, and that is what someone did. Crowded table, people jammed all around it, and this guy sits under the table catching all the money as it came to him.

He climbed out from under the table and walked away with a pocketful of cash. Eventually someone noticed money laying on the floor and the boxman realized what had happened. They had no idea how much money he got, but he did well.

Another incident happened at Harrah's Tahoe shortly after it opened in the fifties. At that time, it was reportedly the longest "pit" in Nevada. I forget how long it was, but long. Shortly after it opened, a "big" crap game was going on at one end of the pit. At sometime, a "floor boss" approached a table at the opposite end of the pit, all suited up, had a chip "rack" and told the dealers, "Quick, give me all the 100 dollar chips, need a fill on table 2." The dealers were all new, looked at each other and gave him all the big chips.

Hours later, someone noticed they were gone and not accounted for. By that time they had made it down the  mountain to Reno and cashed the chips in a various places. Wrong, stealing, I guess, but I admire people who possess those "gutty" qualities. Thus the term, "If you're gonna be a sucker, be a silent one."

Obama: National Security? I Have an Election to Win

Posted on September 24, 2012 by Chris Graham

On Wednesday I tweeted that nobody would any longer be calling for the US prison at Guantanamo Bay (GITMO) to close down. I wrote it in response to reports that one of the attackers of the US embassy in Libya last Tuesday on the anniversary of 9/11 was a former detainee at that prison. In a sane country I would have been correct. But I really ought to have learned my lesson by now never to be shocked by the Obama administration. It seems I let my guard down, however, and I experience shock yet again.

Nobody wants GITMO to close? President Obama has proven me incorrect, as he plans on releasing a minimum of 55 detainees. one of whom was a bodyguard for Osama bin Laden. For now he appears to have nixed his former idea of releasing them into American prisons, but where these prisoners ultimately settle remains to be determined. No country wants them except the ones they came from. Maybe the US should build a prison in the middle of the ocean after they close down the current prison in the middle of the ocean.

One of the most common criticisms leveled at Obama during this first term of his has been that he failed to keep his campaign promise to close GITMO. Presumably he broke this promise because once he became President and was given security briefings, his naiveté on the matter was scrubbed away, and he realized there were actually reasons for there being prisoners at GITMO.

But now, security be damned, he’s releasing one-third of the prisoners.

What I am wondering is how, after receiving news that one of the embassy attackers two weeks ago was a former GITMO detainee, could any American president with sincere concern for the safety of his citizens even contemplate releasing more of those barbarians into the world? This on top of the fact that, according to the Pentagon, one in seven detainees who have been released in the past have returned to wage jihad against Americans. Why are these actions of Obama’s acceptable?

Of course this decision of the President’s is based not on national security, but on politics and concern with his re-election. It is an attempt to re-energize his disillusioned base. “See, I kept my promise, kind of.” As we’ve seen for the past four years, politics comes first in Obama’s mind. “I’m from Chicago,” he once said while campaigning in 2008. “We know how to play politics in Chicago.”

Parents not told NYC schools dispensing morning-after pill Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/09/24/13-new-york-city-schools-provide-morning-after-pills-to-teens/#ixzz27PCs0fDW

The New York City Department of Education is providing morning-after pills and other birth control drugs to students at 13 city high schools.

School nurse offices supplied with the contraceptives can reportedly dispense "Plan B" emergency contraception and other oral or injectable birth control to girls as young as 14 without telling their parents -- unless the parents opt out of the program after receiving a school letter informing them of the new policy.

Fox affiliate WNYW reports that New York City high schools have supplied free condoms to teens in the past, but this is the first time city schools have given hormonal birth control and Plan B, which can prevent pregnancy if taken up to 72 hours after unprotected sex.

Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Health, known as CATCH, is part of a citywide plan to prevent teen pregnancy.

The city says about 7,000 girls get pregnant by the time they reach the age of 17 and that more than half of them choose to get an abortion, the station reported.

The Plan B distribution could be the first of its kind in the nation, according to The National Association of School Nurses. The organization said it could not locate another school district that supplies Plan B.

80 years next week

From: Ernest Moody
I want to wish you a happy 80th Joe. I am 6 months behind you. We've been friends for about 60 years now and hope for many more.

Wow, friends for 60 years. Went to school with Ernie when we were in the Navy and we became good friends, had some really good times with him. Then he went his way and I went mine.  Thanks to the internet he got in touch with me, many years later, and we have been staying in touch since.

One week from today, September 30, I will be 80.

Worst Ways to Clean Your TV

By Becky Worley

You've invested hundreds — maybe thousands — of dollars in your TV. So how should you clean the screen without risking ruining it? The Internet is full of ideas and ads touting the best products. I searched "How to clean a flat screen TV" and found a crazy set of suggested cleaning methods. So I sacrificed an LCD in order to put seven supposed solutions to the test.
The Test
Since most often, I find myself cleaning off kids' fingerprints, I first mixed up a concoction to simulate what they might have on their hands — cream cheese, sunscreen, and peanut butter. Next, I had the questionable pleasure of smearing this mess all over the screen (which I did while the kids were out of the house — gotta be careful what I role-model).
I unplugged the TV for safety, then tested each product in turn:
1. Windex: I was nervous about using anything with ammonia, but it didn't seem to do any damage. On the other hand, it left a streaky residue. Just like when you clean your windows, the product isn't perfect.
2. Alcohol and Water: I like the idea of alcohol, because it should evaporate without leaving a mark. And in fact, the results were pretty good — at least with a soft rag. So next, I took the opportunity to test the same cleaner with a different cloth…
3. Alcohol and Water and Paper Towel: Disaster! Not only did the paper towel shed fibers on the screen, it streaked the screen so badly, I thought I might have permanently scratched it. Sure, some TV glass is more durable than others, but a scratched screen is something you definitely don't want to risk.
4.  Furniture Polish: This is not something I would have ever tried had I not read it on line… And sure enough — the result was major streaks along with a cloudy residue.
5. Water and Vinegar: At first, this didn't seem to cut the grease, but once I buffed it out, this combo really worked. For a low-budget solution a product you might already have on hand, this does an admirable job.
6. Antistatic Cleaning Wipes: These come pre-moistened and are supposedly formulated specifically for cleaning TVs and electronics screens. Yeah, well, maybe they're designed just to deal with the dust that is naturally attracted to electronic screens, and their makers didn't foresee cream cheese. That could excuse the major streaks that remained after trying these wipes, but it doesn't excuse the hairy particles the cloth itself left behind.
7. Screen Guard and Microfiber: Of all the solutions I tried, Screen Guard was the most expensive; at $20, it's more than twice as pricey as the antistatic wipes — which may make many shy away. But the result? Perfection. No residue, no streaks, no fibers. In fact, after the test, I used this method to clean the entire screen of the mess left by all the other contenders. Bottom line: if you've spent hundreds or thousands on a TV, $20 on the right cleaner seems like a smart investment.

Duct tape and raisins

OK, a while back I did a post on duct tape and its use in removing warts. I had forgotten it until the other day when some folks were visiting ad she said she was advised by her doctor to put duct tape on a wart she had on her foot.

I have many "aging" brown spots, but two of them on my cheek were getting big and were a problem when I shaved. So, I tried the tape on them. In a few days they had reduced greatly in size, and now they are almost gone. I put the tape on them twice a day. This morning I had to look in the mirror to find them, could not feel them.

Two day ago I figured I would try it on one of the aging spots on my cheek. After three days it has lost most of its dark color and seems to be going away. I will keep you posted. If it works on aging spots it will be miraculous, I have many of them to work on.

I also did a post a long time ago, three years,  on white raisins soaked in gin being good for arthritis. I found them a few days ago while rummaging through our kitchen cabinet. Whoa, pungent aroma. Three days ago I ate 9 of them, as instructed, have been doing it each day.

I have arthritis bad in the lower neck and lower back. After three days of the raisins I have less discomfort.

I don't know if this works for everyone, but they have for me. Duct tape and raisins.

Four strikeouts in one inning

It's difficult to believe, but even with a history as deep and rich as that of the New York Yankees, there's an achievement — granted, it's rare — their pitchers had only managed to accomplish one time before Thursday night. For perspective, that's two times less than Chuck Finley all by himself, and the same number of times Tim Wakefield and 55 other pitchers had done it. Heck, a Chicago Cubs pitcher named Jason Berken did it himself on Thursday afternoon.

That achievement, of course, is a pitcher recording four strikeouts in a single inning, and now they can finally say it's happened twice after Phil Hughes struck out four straight batters in the fourth inning of their 10-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Hughes' first victim in the inning was J.P. Arencibia, whom he finished off in three pitches with a slider away. After a quick visit from the training staff and Joe Girardi, Hughes got Adeiny Hechavarria swinging on a high fastball that catcher Russell Martin couldn't handle. Martin was charged with a passed ball after it rolled all the way to screen, allowing Hechavarria to reach and Hughes to pursue a little history.

Now working from the stretch, Hughes would fan Anthony Gose on four pitches with a swing-and-miss curveball low and in. He then completed the impressive inning by catching Brett Lawrie looking on another dandy curveball. Four up, four strikeouts. And he did it all in an economical 17 pitches.

Man allegedly steals $100K coin collection, then spends at face value on pizza and a movie

By Eric Pfeiffer

A young couple in Washington state may be guilty of committing an expensive crime for pennies on the dollar. Dakoda Garren, 19, has been charged with stealing a rare coin collection worth $100,000 and spending the coins at face value on a movie and pizza with his girlfriend.

The Columbian reports that a woman living in Woodland had her family coin collection stolen in May and says that Garren and his girlfriend Elizabeth Massman were the only people to visit her home during that period, when they were hired to do some part-time work.

Garren denied the accusation back in May, telling police they "didn't have any evidence against him," according to a report filed in Cowlitz County Superior Court.

But then Garren and Massman allegedly began using the coins at local establishments, spending them at face value, including a quarter that is estimated to be worth thousands of dollars.

The Daily News reports the collection includes a variety of rare coins, such as Liberty Head quarters, Morgan dollars and several others dating back to the early 1800s.

After conducting their investigation, police now say the couple spent several 1930s coins at a Battle Ground-area movie theater, using quarters worth between $5 and $68 each.

How POLITICS works????????????????????/

Some ideas I have taken off the web

These are some items I took from some other blogs
******************
I believe President Obama will win re-election
because of our aversion to the truth
*******************
“With the collapse of Communism, we recognized that markets are going to happen. But having said all that, I insist—and this I think I’m inheriting what was probably the best part of the dream of both my father—my African father, my white American mother—I think that the best legacy of heirs, my inheritance, is the notion that we collectively can decide on our fate.”

These are the words spoken by Barack Obama on August 11, 1995, pointing to what he views as a silver lining in the collapse of Communism,
because the collapse of Communism was a bad occurrence in his eyes.

***********************
“I actually believe in redistribution.”
These are the words spoken by Barack Obama on October 19, 1998, at Loyola University.
********************
“Now, what we’re doing, I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned”—
”I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”
These are the words spoken by Barack Obama, then President, on April 28, 2010,
in a speech at Quincy, Illinois.
*******************
I used to think there would be a silver lining in Obama’s winning a second term: that Americans would finally see his true colors.
But he has already displayed his true colors in full?
The above quotes are all captured on video.
But we are not a serious people.
We are witnessing America’s collapse and we do nothing.
We still sleep.

Government Schools Using RFID Chips to Track Students

The Northside school district in Austin, Texas is implementing a program that tracks its students with RFID chips in their school ID’s, which are worn around their necks. The stated purpose is to increase attendance and thereby increase revenue. Schools with attendance problems receive less revenue from the state than those without attendance problems. So, the theory is that if they can raise attendance through tracking students, they’ll bring in more revenue from the state.

School officials are lauding this program and saying that it will pay for itself. Although the school will be spending over half a million dollars just to implement it and over $100,000 a year to maintain it, they anticipate bringing in $1.7 million in state revenue.

They claim that they’re doing the parents a favor by knowing where the students are at all times. The Northside Independent School District made this statement:
Northside ISD is harnessing the power of radio frequency identification technology (RFID) to make schools safer, know where our students are while at school, increase revenues and provide a general purpose “smart” ID card. Parents entrust us with their children and expect that we always know where their children are; this technology will help us do that.

US State Department is Financing Mosques around the World

The State Department is sending millions of our tax dollars to save mosques overseas. Can you imagine what would happen if tax dollars were going to rebuild churches here in the United States. The American Civil Liberties Union and Americans United for Separation of Church and State would be condemning the action by an appeal to the First Amendment.

Our government doesn’t have any business using tax money to repair churches, Jewish synagogues, or Muslim mosques, especially mosques.

Justification for this blatantly unconstitutional action is that the expenditure of $4 million to refurbish mosques is “a good-will effort.” A lot of good our “investment” has done given the events of the last week. It’s always easy to spend someone else’s money. If Liberals want to express good will, then let them do it with their own money.

Liberals just don’t get it. Islam is a world-dominating religion. They see the planting of a mosque as conquered territory. Every time a mosque goes, up, they believe that it’s only a matter of time before Islam will be ruling. Egyptian-American human rights activist Nonie Darwish said “that trying to buy respect in the Middle East only shows our weakness.” She went on to say: “‘This part of the world has a lot of respect for power and America is not showing its power, it’s showing its appeasement. They are laughing all the way to the bank,’ said Darwish.”

Darwish was born in Egypt and is a former Muslim. She has written several books critical of the radical elements of Islam. She made the point that “most of the mosques in Egypt are run by extremists who have ordered former Muslims like herself to be killed.”

“We are rebuilding mosques to support the radicals, not to support the moderates. We are building mosques to issue fatwas of death against people like me.”

Change just ONE opinion ......

If you and I can sway just one undecided voter, Mitt Romney could handily win the election.

This is how you persuade undecided voters to join Team Romney.

Pick an undecided voter you know (or one you don’t know—online, say), and ask him calmly, “What do you like about Obama and what do you like about Romney?” Make note of his answers, but before responding, also ask, “What do you dislike about Obama and what do you dislike about Romney?”

Keeping in mind the reasons he likes both candidates and the worries he has about both candidates, talk with him about why he should strongly consider voting for Romney. Chances are that the reasons he likes Obama and dislikes Romney are misconceptions about the two candidates. This is usually the case, in fact, judging by experiences with undecided voters. So correct those misconceptions.

The most important thing is not to use emotionally charged language. Do not, for the love of God, call Obama a socialist, a Marxist, or even a radical. Do not. Obama may be all three of those things, but calling him one does not convert anybody and, in fact, tends to turn people against you, not against Obama. Calling him a socialist (Marxist, radical, what have you) is also much too vague. When decrying socialism, one doesn’t simply say, “Socialism is bad because it’s socialism.” It must be explained why socialism is bad. Likewise, we must explain what specifically makes Obama’s policies bad. “Because they are socialistic policies” is not a convincing argument. It isn’t even an argument.

Another good thing not to do is not to overload the undecided with too much information in one sitting. If the person you are trying to convert is someone you will be communicating with again in the near future, save some information for that later date. If the person is someone you will never see or speak to again, pick only one or two critical reasons not to vote for Obama, but make sure also to pick one or two critical reasons to vote for Romney. People want to vote for someone rather than just against someone.

Do not pressure the undecided voter. Allow everything to sink into him. He will not make up his mind that day. It could be several weeks before he decides. Do not insist that he have an answer to “Who are you voting for?” immediately after you’ve spoken with him, because he won’t. And that’s okay. Be patient.
Good luck. You never know, you could be saving the country.

'GMA' Anchor Gets Bone Marrow Transplant to Treat MDS

"Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts underwent a bone marrow transplant Thursday to treat MDS, a bone marrow disorder that affects blood cells production.

The transplant was a five-minute procedure in which the donor cells from Robin's sister, Sally-Ann, were injected into Robin's system through a syringe.

"Nobody can believe it," Dr. Gail Roboz, the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center oncologist who is treating Robin, said today on "GMA" of the short procedure.

"People have in their mind all kinds of images of what can happen in a transplant but it's still an incredibly powerful moment," she said. "Inside of that syringe are millions and millions of stem cells that are now circulating around and trying to find their home and start growing which is what we're going to be looking for over the next couple of weeks."

As she underwent the transplant Robin was surrounded by her siblings and other loved ones, including "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer and "GMA"'s weather anchor, Sam Champion.

"It was an emotional, scary and yet exhilarating moment, one that I'll never forget," Champion said.
Robin faced the procedure with grace, strength and humor. For 10 days prior to the transplant, she endured rigorous chemotherapy treatments to prepare her system to accept her sister's cells.

2C-I or 'Smiles': The New Killer Drug Every Parent Should Know About

By Piper Weiss

Smiles, a new drug popular with teens, has been linked to recent overdoses.

Witnesses described the 17-year-old boy as "shaking, growling, foaming at the mouth." According to police reports, Elijah Stai was at a McDonald's with his friend when he began to feel ill. Soon after, he "started to smash his head against the ground" and began acting "possessed," according to a witness. Two hours later, he had stopped breathing.

The Grand Forks, North Dakota teenager's fatal overdose has been blamed on a drug called 2C-I. The night before Stai's overdose, another area teen, Christian Bjerk, 18, was found face down on a sidewalk. His death was also linked to the drug.

2C-I--known by its eerie street name "Smiles"--has become a serious problem in the Grand Forks area, according to local police. Overdoses of the drug have also be reported in Indiana and Minnesota. But if the internet is any indication, Smiles is on the rise all over the country.

Obama Appoints Mega-Donor’s Wife To UN Post

The wife of Israeli-American billionaire Haim Saban has been appointed as the U.S. representative to the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly. Saban has been a mega-donor and at one time a top giver in the Democrat Party.

While he was a big supporter of Hillary Clinton in 2008, he basically sat out the election that year. However, he finally wrote his first check to the Obama campaign and over the summer he donated $1 million to super PACS that backed Democrat candidates.

What is most interesting is how a woman that no one elected or chose to represent them is appointed by Barack Obama to represent the United States before the world at the United Nations. And she is doing it simply because her husband wrote a generous donation to the Obama campaign.

What’s even more appalling is how Barack Obama talks about “big money” pouring into the Romney campaign, when his own has plenty “big money of its own. Oh the hypocrisy!

Right or Wrong??????

The Obama administration is now running “apology” ads in Pakistan. The ads include both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama apologizing for an obscure YouTube video that is blocked in Pakistan.

The television ads in Pakistan feature clips of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton during press appearances in Washington in which they condemned the video. Their words were subtitled in Urdu.

“We absolutely reject its content and message,” said Clinton in the advertisement.

A caption on the ad reads: “Paid Content.”

The advertisements end with the seal of the American Embassy in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.

Yes, taxpayers pick up the bill for an otherwise useless waste of money.

So let’s get this straight: The State Department spent seventy grand of taxpayer money to have the Secretary of State and the President of the United States apologize for a film they “allegedly” had nothing to do with. Well it’s nice to know our money is being spent so wisely by Hussein and his administration as they continue to apologize for someone simply exercising their First Amendment rights, instead of reprimanding those who have been attaching the US embassy there in Pakistan.

A Poem

'Twas the night before elections,
And all through the town,
Tempers were flaring
Emotions ran up and down.

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap,
Had shut off the TV,
tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden,
There arose such a noise,
I peered out my window,
Saw Obama and his boys.

They had come for my wallet,
They wanted my pay
To hand out to others
Who had worked not a day!

He snatched up my money,
And quick as a wink,
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink.

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart.
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

'On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On ACORN, on Pelosi'
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause,
And as they flew out of sight,
I heard him laugh at a nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
on this one final note...
IF YOU DON'T WANT SOCIALISM,
THEN GET OUT AND VOTE !!!!

Way to go, gal ..................

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jean Nail has been judging cheerleaders longer than most current cheerleaders have been alive. She started as spirit coordinator for the University of Arkansas 30 years ago, and let's just say her standards are as tough as her name.

So her heart didn't immediately melt earlier this year when she saw the DVD application of a blonde Texarkana girl named Patience Beard. Nail knew thousands of people would go "wow" when they took one look at the girl, and not in the way most red-blooded males say "wow" when they look at a cheerleader.

Patience was different than any other applicant Nail had ever seen: She had a prosthetic left leg. Nail was sympathetic, but this incoming freshman would have to inspire more than concern to become one of 12 freshmen to cheer for the Razorbacks. The coach would offer "no special consideration" here. Beard would have to do all the stunts, and do them perfectly. There would be no charity for Patience.

When she was six months old, Patience Beard was diagnosed with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD), a disease that affects bone growth. Put simply, her left leg would always be shorter than her right. And over the course of years, that would create all kinds of structural problems. So when she was nine months old, Beard's parents allowed doctors to amputate their daughter's left foot and ankle. She would be able to walk, but not without a prosthetic.

Beard's mom and dad worried about their girl falling down. Patience, however, didn't seem to have those concerns. When she was 3, her dad made her a bike with training wheels and a special sleeve that could accommodate her prosthetic leg. Patience demanded the training wheels be removed. Mom said no, but Dad relented. And off Patience went, riding along without training wheels.

There would be trying times, of course. Patience remembers going to the beach in fifth grade and feeling embarrassed when everyone around her started noticing her leg. "What happened to you?" they asked. Patience told her mom she wanted to wear pants. Her mom told her no.

"That's who you are," she told her daughter. "Don't be ashamed. This is you."

Call it the Soviet Union's most valuable cold war secret. This past weekend, Russia declassified the existence of what could very well be the richest diamond field in existence, located in the depths of a 62-mile diameter asteroid crater known as Popigai Astroblem in Siberia.

The diamonds found in the Popigai Astroblem are known as "impact diamonds." They're created when a meteor strikes a graphite deposit, as happened there an estimated 35 million years ago. Impact diamonds are significantly harder than normal diamonds, and are best suited for industrial or scientific use.

Given that diamonds can sell for $2,000 per karat with unusually large diamonds going for as much as $20 million, a discovery of "trillions of karats" could value this hole in the quadrillions of dollars. Of course, a diamond discovery of this magnitude is almost sure to have a serious downward impact in the per-karat price should full-scale mining operations ever begin.

A Gingham Dress

This is a true story:

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston , and walked timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President's outer office.

The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard & probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge.

"We'd like to see the president," the man said softly.

"He'll be busy all day," the secretary snapped.

"We'll wait," the lady replied.

For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away.

They didn't, and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted.

"Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they'll leave," she said to him!

He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, and he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office.

The president, stern faced and with dignity, strutted toward the couple.

The lady told him, "We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him somewhere on campus."

The president wasn't touched. He was shocked. "Madam," he said, gruffly, "we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery."

"Oh, no," the lady explained quickly. "We don't want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard."

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed, "A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard."

For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now.

The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, "Is that all it cost to start a university? Why don't we just start our own? " Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California where they established the university that bears their name, Stanford University, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

Well???????

Just saw an ad, "Josh Mandel, a politician you can't trust."

Name  me ONE that you can trust.

Well, anyone? Certainly not his opponent, Sherrod Brown.

Which campaign is NOT lying about almost everything.

Remember "Truth in Advertising?"

Authorities have issued a tornado watch for the New York City metropolitan area as intense winds, blinding rain and possible severe thunderstorms threaten the region.
The tornado watch for the city, Sullivan, Rockland and Orange counties and all of New Jersey is in effect until 7 p.m. Half-inch sized hall, dangerous lightning and wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible with this storm, meteorologists say.

Honey, I'm gonna vote for Obama ......

My wife told me that the other night. Then she went on for an hour or so, giving me the reasons and telling me why she was going to vote for him. Listed below, in alphabetical order, are the reasons she said she was going to vote for him ....................

And then something nudged me and I heard, "Wake up Honey, it's time to go vote!"

The Age of Terrorism

Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge became the latest university forced to evacuate due to a bomb threat on Monday—three days after three other colleges temporarily shut down their campuses for the same reason.

At about 11:30 a.m. local time LSU posted a message on their website saying, “A bomb threat has been reported on the LSU Campus. Please evacuate as calmy and quickly as possible.”

No further update has been posted since, but a local news site reported that traffic near campus immediately resembled the congestion that would be seen following a Saturday football game.

The threat follows three others reported on Friday at the University of Texas at Austin, North Dakota State University in Fargo, N.D. and Hiram College, a private liberal arts college located in Hiram, Ohio. All three schools evacuated their campuses after they received seemingly unrelated bomb threats from unknown callers.

Read and decide for yourself

I found this pamphlet on the internet and have been reading it. It has a lot of information contained it it. You read it and decide for yourself.  SEE IT HERE

During the general election of 2008, Barack Hussein Obama made a statement that would play out on talk shows to this day – “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of
America.” He made other statements such as – “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

We can accuse our current president of many things, but lying about his intent isn't one of them. Change has been his mantra since he became president, but the question that we hope to  answer in this pamphlet is simple – Has Barack Obama overstepped his executive powers to conduct himself more as a tyrant than a president, and if so, has he rendered himself unfit to rule?

Chicago .... only in Chicago

I have been doing some looking in to the strike in Chicago. Below are some comments I found on a comment site. None of these are my commentary, only comments I copied.

"Chicago teachers make $76,000.00 per year."

"Plus, only work about 8 months out of the year and have gold-plated perks, free health care and pension plan no similarly situated private sector employee receives."

"Here is another tidbit, 40% of the teachers send their own kids to PRIVATE SCHOOLS."

"They are one of the top paid teachers groups in the nation yet they have one of the shortest school day and have the least amount of days per year."

"Honestly, I don't understand how a group of collage educated people like teachers need an outside organization, a union, to speak for them. I had worked at a company years ago which had an employees union after about two years a bid came up on the day shift, I bid on the position, I had been working a night shift at the time, and was awarded the position, the union fought my being given the position claiming there were men with more seniority who had bid for the position. The company fought the union and I was given the position on my ability to do the job over the seniority of others who had bid on it. I found out early in life that I didn't need any one else to do my talking for me and that the union was a hindrance to my working hard for a promotion. The union was good at protecting the jobs of the slackers, those that were habitually late and the drinkers. These, I found, were the ones who gladly payed weekly union dues so as to protect their weekly paycheck. When I left that position, I never worked for a company with a union again and did quite well for myself right up until the time I retired."

D-Day Memorial ... Obama absent from visiting

For those too young too remember; here is a photo of the The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France memorializing the fallen US soldiers of the D-Day Invasion to retake  Europe from the Nazis.

The large white areas in the photo are created by thousands of white crosses and Star of David grave markers:

There is also a D-Day Monument in Bedford , VA
a relatively short 200 mile helicopter ride from the White House:

In all the years since D-Day 1945, there are only three occasions when the sitting President of the United States of America failed to go to the D-Day Monument that honors the soldiers killed during the Invasion.
    Only Three Times...

    The occasions were:
 1. Barack Obama 2010
 2. Barack Obama 2011
 3. Barack Obama 2012

For the past 68 years, every single president, except Obama, has paid tribute to the fallen American soldiers killed on D-Day.

This year, instead of honoring the soldiers, he made a 3,000 mile campaign trip on Air Force 1 to California to raise funds for the upcoming election. Priorities?

It speaks volumes... doesn't it?

A Wisconsin farmer named Olie.................

A Wisconsin farmer named Olie had a car accident. He was hit by a truck owned by the Eversweet Company, a Harley Westover Company.

In court, the Eversweet Company's hot-shot attorney questioned him thus:

'Didn't you say to the state trooper at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?"
Olie responded: 'vell, I'lla tell you vat happened dere. I'd yust loaded my fav'rit cow, Bessie, into da... '

'I didn't ask for any details', the lawyer interrupted. 'Just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?'

Olie said, 'vell, I'd yust got Bessie into da trailer and I vas drivin' down da road.... '

The lawyer interrupted again and said, 'Your Honor, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the police on the scene that he was fine. Now several weeks after the accident, he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question. '

By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Olie’s answer and said to the attorney: 'I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite cow, Bessie'.

Olie said: 'Tank you' and proceeded. 'vell as I vas saying, I had yust loaded Bessie, my fav'rit cow, into de trailer and was drivin' her down de road vin dis huge Eversweet truck and trailer came tundering tru a stop sign and hit my trailer right in da side by golly. I was trown into one ditch and Bessie was trown into da udder ditch.

By yimminy yahosaphat I vas hurt, purty durn bad, and didn't want to move. An even vurse dan dat, I could hear old Bessie a moanin' and a groanin'. I knew she vas in terrible pain yust by her groans.

Shortly after da accident, a policeman on a motorbike turned up. He could hear Bessie a moanin' and a groanin' too, so he vent over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her condition, he took out his gun and shot her right between the eyes.

Den da policeman came across de road, gun still in hand, looked at me, and said, 'How are you feelin'?'

'Now wot vud you say?'

Where's the crowd?

The University of Miami would like to thank all 300 people who came out today to support the Hurricanes.

This is how the stadium looked when the Hurricanes came out of the tunnel for Saturday's game against Bethune-Cookman. And it didn't get much better as the game went on. Everyone out tailgating stayed in the parking lot instead of watching what was ultimately a 38-10 Miami win.

What fans missed was freshman running back Duke Johnson scoring four touchdowns in three different ways, including a 95-yard kick return, a 50-yard touchdown reception and runs of 1 and 28 yards.

Look, we know it's Bethune-Cookman, and the Hurricanes are coming off an awful loss to Kansas State, but this is just sad. So sad, it's Maryland vs. Boston College-like.

I like her .......

I am quite sure no one really wants to or cares to hear my opinion on this or any other subject. I think at times that lines should be drawn. I realize that mega dollars are involved, politicians and  businessmen in general have no integrity, so there is no reason to think that some clown with a camera and a baseball bat sized lens would be any different. I am sure that dollar signs were revolving in his head like the reels on a slot machine when he found a vantage point and he could invade their privacy.

It would be nice to think that there were people in this world that possessed some integrity. Apparently not.

In my mind, Kate Middleton is a real "princess." She is a class act.

I wonder what might happen if some camera happy guy got a foto of Michele Obama, topless. I wonder in which lake he would be spending eternity?

She deserves none of this publicity. She knew what she was in for though and I think she is tough enough to live through it all. Did no one know she had breasts?

ONE MORE TIP FOR TODAY
