Hey, YOU, Who, ME ...........................

We live in an apartment complex, not sure how many, eight units or so to a building, twelve or so buildings. We have been here for many years, but we really know very few of our neighbors, just the adjacent ones, primarily.

So it was not unusual for there to be a knock at the door, and a young man told us he needed a jump, his battery was dead, and, he had his own cables. Had not seen him before, but he looked OK. Melissa, our daughter was visiting with us, so she had her truck out in front, so she went with him.

She got his truck started, they chatted a bit, about trucks, and she came back to our apartment.

We were sitting and chatting, and another knock came from our door. We opened it, and a policeman was standing there. He asked if we had seen anyone or anything suspicious, one of the back apartments had been robbed of all its valuables. It was an apartment behind us, and apparently a neighbor had heard some strange noises and reported it. She had not seen anyone, but she thought she had heard a truck pull out.

"No, we've just been sitting here talking."

Reminds me of the time we did a bike ride in New York. Brad, our son, took a friend along with him and they were not going to ride. Dean, another son, who lived in NY was taking them around town, showing them the sights, while we all rode. They helped a guy who was having car trouble, they thought, turned out he was "stripping" the car ..... another whoooooooops!
