As we all know, I am skeptical of the relationship between TV and athletics, at the college and professional level. Last night, North Carolina and Texas A & M, and Agricultural and Military college. First half, NC looked great, they totally outplayed A & M. Johnny Football, the Texas QB is the most highly touted college player in many years. They call him Johnny Football, and a Heisman Winner from last year. 38-17. Johnny was most likely playing in his last collegiate game, will be a pro next year. He is known as a "miracle creator" on the football field.
His team was totally, totally, outplayed that first half. OK, a pro next year, the pro game has lost some of its popularity. Games are too long, officials are being questioned, tames are boring. "We need a shot in the arm."
His arrival in the pros will not compare to the "birth of Christ," but, you are gonna think it was. I know it was coincidence, but at halftime, I predicted a "miracle" comeback something spectacular, record braking. None of my predictions had anything to do with the game, only, what was best for TV.
Then it happened, Johnny Football started them on their comeback, NC stayed in the game though, only a few minutes to go, NC still ahead, it was looking bad. I said, "An interception on this play, and A&M wins the game."
"Led by Manziel, the Aggies rallied after trailing 38-17 at halftime. It was the highest-scoring game in the bowl's history. Manziel, playing in what might be his final college game, completed 30 of 38 passes for 382 yards and ran for 73 yards and a touchdown. ''I was in a zone I haven't been in before,'' Manziel said. ''Ever. I just wanted this game.''
"Hurd's interception return gave the No. 20 Aggies (9-4) their first lead with 3:33 remaining."
Next year, SRO games, gigantic TV ad sales, football has a new savior, Johnny Football
