It pays to advertise ............ Hookers Are Us

"Hey baby, do you know why you are called a hooker? Well, There is a very quick and easy answer for this question. Hookers have been called hookers since 1845. The term came from none other than New York, specifically a place called ‘The Hook’. Ladies of the night could be found every night at ‘The Hook’ and it did not take long for someone to coin the phrase hooker, probably many people coined it,"

New York police say they have arrested 18 operators of a high-end drug trafficking and prostitution ring planning to deliver “party packs” of cocaine and prostitutes during Super Bowl weekend. The suspects are charged with conspiracy, narcotics sales, promoting prostitution and money laundering among other crimes, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Thursday.

The arrests came after a nearly year-long undercover investigation of a crime ring that police say was laundering its money through a clothing wholesaler, a wig wholesaler, a limousine service and a beauty supply wholesaler. The 11-month investigation involved physical and electronic surveillance.

Authorities estimate the operation made millions of dollars through high-end prostitutes and drug sales in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and Queens, as well as several other states. The suspects allegedly made their money by supplying wealthy johns visiting from out-of-town with large quantities of cocaine brought by one prostitute (what was known as “the party pack”); once the client was impaired by the drugs, prostitutes would flood the room and repeatedly charge that person’s credit card. Some customers were charged upward of $10,000 for one night, authorities said.

The operators were allegedly marketing their services to clientele coming to the New York City area for this Sunday’s Super Bowl. Police say just 10 days before the Super Bowl they sent out an email blast advertising new sexy & beautiful girls R in town waiting for u.”

I did nothing wrong, I AM A SHERIFF - Don't mess with me

Athens County Sheriff Patrick Kelly is now facing a 25-count criminal indictment, including charges of stealing money from the sale of county property; stealing from his own election campaign; lying under oath; tampering with evidence and government records; and, most seriously, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity (commonly known as racketeering).

But he remained defiant Friday when served with the indictment, which was handed down by a special grand jury after a state investigation of his office that had lasted some 16 months.

"I'm not stepping down; no plea bargain; no nothing," Kelly declared. "I will absolutely continue (as sheriff)."

That may not be up to him, however. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, whose office handled the investigation, said at a news conference that he will forward Kelly's indictment – as he must do by state law – to the Ohio Supreme Court, to decide whether to suspend Kelly while his criminal case is pending. DeWine stressed that Kelly can fight any suspension decision.

"He is not removed automatically," DeWine said. "He is still sheriff at this moment."

Since it was seated near the middle of last year, the grand jury had met sporadically; Friday was its ninth day of listening to witnesses – of whom it heard more than 25, DeWine said. Finally, on Friday it came out with an indictment, which included:

• 13 counts of theft in office, three of them fourth-degree felonies, and 10 of them fifth-degree felonies;
• four counts of theft, a fifth-degree felony;
• one count of money laundering, a third-degree felony;
• one count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony;
• one count of tampering with records, a third-degree felony;
• one count of perjury, a third-degree felony;
• one count of failing to keep a cashbook, an unclassified felony;
• one count of obstructing official business, a second-degree misdemeanor;
• one count of dereliction of duty; a second-degree misdemeanor; and
• one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony.

The last count carries a sentence of three to 11 years in prison; the others carry lesser potential sentences.

I was asked to work on a political campaign on one occasion, he was running for Sheriff, in a nearby county. I had a meeting in Columbus, next day I was "visited" by a retired sheriff from another county, he wondered if I was going to help. He made some comments, I did not help on the campaign. I have had a few occasions to get involved in similar situations .... me advice, DO NOT mess with a sheriff. I have no idea whether this one is guilty or not, my guess would be YES, but don't tell him I mentioned it ............., please.

Yahoo email account passwords stolen

NEW YORK (AP) — Usernames and passwords of some of Yahoo's email customers have been stolen and used to gather personal information about people those Yahoo mail users have recently corresponded with, the company said Thursday.

Yahoo didn't say how many accounts have been affected. Yahoo is the second-largest email service worldwide, after Google's Gmail, according to the research firm comScore. There are 273 million Yahoo mail accounts worldwide, including 81 million in the U.S.

It's the latest in a string of security breaches that have allowed hackers to nab personal information using software that analysts say is ever more sophisticated. Up to 70 million customers of Target stores had their personal information and credit and debit card numbers compromised late last year, and Neiman Marcus was the victim of a similar breach in December.

"It's an old trend, but it's much more exaggerated now because the programs the bad guys use are much more sophisticated now," says Avivah Litan, a security analyst at the technology research firm Gartner. "We're clearly under attack."

Yahoo Inc. said in a blog post on its breach that "The information sought in the attack seems to be names and email addresses from the affected accounts' most recent sent emails."

That could mean hackers were looking for additional email addresses to send spam or scam messages. By grabbing real names from those sent folders, hackers could try to make bogus messages appear more legitimate to recipients.

Democratic or Republican?

I am not going to mention any names, but one political party near where I live, has been overheard complaining about a lack of interest and community support. They have a website, with explanations about the party, their goals, committees, involvement, etc., etc., but no one was showing any interest in joining the party. I checked out the site, tastefully and technically well done. Nice photographs, very informative, so further curiosity led me to the webmaster who was managing the site.
He indicated that many had actually filled out the form, but none could answer the below question.

This question is for testing whether you are a human visitor and to prevent automated spam submissions.

Man miraculously survives being trapped in a wood chipper

Frank Arce’s story of survival is nothing short of miraculous.

The Longview, Washington resident and employee of the Swanson Bark and Wood Products Company works with machines that turn bark into wood chips. KATU News reported that when one of the wood chippers got jammed, Frank climbed into the shut off machine to retrieve the object causing the jam. This was all in accordance with the company’s standard practices. When he was inside the wood chipper’s narrow barrel, he heard the terrifying sound of the machine’s engine starting. Someone outside started the machine, unaware that Arce was within it. The spikes and claws of the wood chipper were activated and Arce was trapped.

KATU spoke with Arce from his room at PeaceHealth SW Washington Medical center. Surprisingly the survivor told KATU, "Actually going through the machine itself wasn't the worst part about it." He said the worst part was, “…the not knowing what was going to happen."

XLVIII

Just think, 49 years ago we had never heard of a Super Bowl, look at it now, perhaps the biggest event of any kind in the world, it's bigger then the Emmy's or the Oscar's. The money that is generated is beyond comprehension, the half time event is perhaps one of, if not the biggest entertainment of the year. And, in between all of this, some guys are playing a game, it's a week long event.

Cats play football on one commercial, dogs do on another. How and why did this become such a world-wide event. Television did it. It is no longer a sporting event, it is a television show, a television week of continual specials, sneak previews of commercials. The commercials generate more interest than the game.

And this year, some genius decided to have the game in a "cold weather" environment, in New Jersey, not one of the warm, heated multi-million dollar arenas around the country.

Each year the event grows larger, bigger, greater, longer with greater viewing audiences. Who is playing in this game .... Iorgot .........

Drunk man mistakes police officer for stripper, gets arrested

No matter who he thought the officer was, Peterlee, England resident Paul Harbord’s actions late last year are pretty reprehensible. The Telegraph reports that the 27-year-old rigger was drinking with friends at a local bar. It seems they had had too much to drink, because a female police officer, “walked in to investigate their ‘rowdy’ behavior.” This led up to Mr. Harbord’s big mistake.

The Sunderland Echo reports that Mr. Harbord and his friends were dressed up and were expecting “entertainment.” Harbord thought the female police officer was an exotic dancer. Prosecutor Vicky Wilson said that, “Harbord shouted, ‘Look, here is one of the strippers’ as he flicked a bar towel in the officer’s face.’” There’s a lot of poor behavior here (like, let’s say, treating any person like this). While acting like a cad can’t always get one in trouble with the law, this time it did. Harbord was arrested and would later plead guilty to obstructing a police officer.

Mr. Harbord’s attorney, Jaxon Taylor said, “He honestly didn’t believe it was a police officer until he was taken to Peterlee police station. He was quite embarrassed by the whole situation. It was an honest and genuine mistake.” According to the Echo, Harbord was given a six-month conditional discharge, and had to pay £100 ($165) in fines.

I wonder if they were Mormon?

Education in its general sense is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research. Education frequently takes place under the guidance of others, but may also be autodidactic. Any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts may be considered educational.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A school district apologized Thursday to outraged parents after about 30 students at a Salt Lake City school had their lunches thrown out because of outstanding balances on their food accounts.

Salt Lake City School District spokesman Jason Olsen said the district is investigating what happened at Uintah (Yoo-IN-tah) Elementary and working to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"This was a mistake. This was handled wrong," Olsen said during a news conference outside the school. "There shouldn't have been food taken away from these students once they went through that line."

Parent Erica Lukes said her 11-year-old daughter came home Tuesday and reported that officials had taken away her deep dish pizza and thrown it out. The action was "humiliating and demoralizing," Erica Lukes said.

"People are upset, obviously, by the way this has been handled because it's really needless and quite mean," she said. "Regardless if it's $2, $5, you don't go about rectifying a situation with a balance by having a child go through that."

Students were given their lunches first and then went to a pay station where their accounts were checked, Olsen said. Students whose lunches were thrown out were given milk and fruit, a standard practice when students don't have lunch money, he said.

The school is located in a middle-class neighborhood, and the district qualifies for federal reimbursement on lunches if the students select certain offerings that are within nutritional guidelines.

Officials started notifying parents on Monday that many children were behind on the payments. Olsen said it appears one district employee decided to take lunches the next day, bu the investigation was ongoing.

District policy requires that parents be given time to respond to such account shortfalls but there is no specific timeline, Olsen said.

Lukes said she called a school cafeteria worker and was told her daughter's account wasn't overdue and a mistake had been made when her meal was taken. Other parents have reported their outstanding balances were as low as $5, Lukes said.

Her daughter reported children were upset and confused and some shared food with each other.

Convicted killer complains state is too slow in providing his sex-change operation

Lawyers for transsexual wife-killer Michelle Kosilek, who this month won a federal court decision in support of a taxpayer-funded sex-change operation, say the Department of Correction has been too slow in scheduling the surgery and want a judge to pressure the prison system into a timeline.

In a motion filed yesterday in U.S. District Court, attorneys for the former Robert Kosilek asked judge Mark L. Wolf for a status conference with the corrections department "as soon as possible" and a schedule for the surgery "as promptly as possible."

"Now that the (sex-reassignment) decision has been affirmed, the defendant's readiness to provide Kosilek's surgery must be assessed," attorneys Joseph Sulman and David Brody wrote. "Such an assessment will show that defendant has violated the spirit, if not the terms, of the court's orders."

The lawyers said 16 months have passed since Wolf first ordered the operation to go forward, prior to DOC appealing his ruling, "(y)et the defendant is not close to being ready to provide Kosilek's surgery due to a clear lack of urgency in taking the actions reasonably necessary to do so.

"Regardless of whether the defendant attempts to appeal this case further, its duty to continue preparing for Kosilek's surgery remains."

A transsexual wife-killer, I am letting that "sink in" a bit. A "wife-killer" would probably be a male, a "life partner killer" could be, I suppose, either sex ... after the operation, I wonder what he will be? Probably just the "life partner" thing. If he was then, a husband, will he then be ..... a wife? And, if same sex marriage is not allowed in his state, what then ... a woman just .... kills another woman. Will he have to be re-tried as a woman? Sent to another cell block. Allowed visitors on Mothers Day. Live with and mingle with all the female prisoners. What if, emotionally, he is still a man and just doing this as a way to be housed with women, clever thinking on his part. As he/she was overheard saying, "If I gonna die, I wanna die with a smile on my face, or a funny little grin, at least."

City Agrees to Stop-Frisk Reforms as Mayor Seeks to Drop Appeal

Mayor de Blasio's administration filed court papers Thursday seeking to drop an appeal of a judge's decision ordering major reforms to the police department's stop-and-frisk policy.

The papers filed in the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said the city was seeking to return the case to a lower court for 45 days "for the purpose of exploring a full resolution."

Shortly after the announcement, lawyers for the plaintiffs in the stop-and-frisk cases said an agreement had been reached for a monitor to oversee reforms.

Lawyers for the Center for Constitutional Rights say the deal calls for a monitor to serve a three-year term. The monitor will oversee a process in which those communities most affected by the stop-and-frisk tactics will provide input into reforms, and falls under a scenario outlined by a federal judge last year.

The judge ruled that the NYPD had discriminated against blacks and Latinos with how it went about stopping, questioning and sometimes frisking people on the street. The judge ordered major reforms to the department's implementation of the policy.

Then-Mayor Bloomberg appealed the decision. But de Blasio, who took office at the beginning of the year, is now seeking to drop the appeal.

Persistent 10-year-old’s hunch leads to a life-saving rescue

Danny DiPietro, a 10-year-old from Howell, Michigan, was in the car with his dad on the way home from a hockey game when he made a life-saving observation out of the corner of his eye. As reported by WXYZ 7 Action News, the young boy thought he saw a dog in an open garage.

Danny told the station, "It was like late at night and it was super cold out. I just, and their garage was open and something just didn't feel right." That feeling stayed with him and when the father and son got home, Danny told his mother, Dawn DiPietro, “I was like, ‘Can you just go up there to check it out?’

When he expressed concern that he thought a dog was left out, Ms. DiPietro reassured her son that no one would leave their dog out in such cold weather. The mother recalled, “So he walked out of the room and came back and he said, ‘No, can we just go up there?’ He goes, ‘It’s, you know, something’s not right.’ I said, ‘Ok.’”

Finally giving in, Dawn decided to take the family dog out for a walk past the condo that Danny mentioned. It was there that she saw someone on the ground of the open garage, waving their hands for help. The woman on the floor of the garage was 80-year-old Kathleen St. Onge, who took a tumble after slipping on ice that fell off her car. "So I ran back called my husband. He ran up there with a blanket. Got my next door neighbor, and then was on the phone with 911,” explained Dawn.

The DiPietros arrived just in time as doctors told Kathleen’s family that she may not have survived another hour in the freezing cold. Ms. St. Onge is doing better and is recovering in the hospital. Her daughter, Sandy St. Onge-Mitter, met with Danny in person to express the family’s gratitude. She also relayed a message from her mother saying, “She is very emotional when she talks about Danny and she says, 'That little boy saved my life. Just thank goodness for that little boy. Thank goodness for his hunch and his persistence.’ And she knows as well as everybody else that she’s alive because of him."

Oregon crime suspect shoots himself in the groin

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police in Portland, Ore., say a man suspected of shooting a neighbor shot himself in the groin while trying to leave the scene of the crime.

Sgt. Pete Simpson tells The Oregonian the 40-year-old man's wound is "consistent with somebody putting a gun in his pants."

The initial shooting happened Tuesday night during an apparent robbery attempt a downtown apartment building near Portland State University.

The 32-year-old man who was shot ran to a grocery store for help. He was later taken to the hospital with a leg wound.

Police say that as the suspect left the scene, he accidentally shot himself in the testicles.

The alleged gunman is being treated for the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

'I will break you in half': Congressman threatens to throw reporter off balcony during interview

It started out like dozens of other interviews after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. But when NY1 reporter Mike Scotto decided to press Rep. Michael Grimm on his personal campaign finances, the Republican congressman abruptly ended the interview.

“This is only about the president’s speech, thank you,” Grimm said before walking off camera.

It’s certainly not the first time a politician has walked out during a live interview. But what happened next is shocking even to the most jaded observer.

After Stotto returned to his report, Rep. Grimm, a former FBI agent and Marine, suddenly stormed back into the camera frame, whispering a threat to the reporter.

"I will break you in half," he said, reportedly threatening to throw the journalist over a balcony inside the U.S. Congress.

Although the audio is largely muted, NY1 employees say that Grimm said, "Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this balcony.”

“I just wanted to ask you … it’s a valid question,” Stotto responded.

“No, no,” Grimm said. “You're not man enough, you're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy."

New 3D printer can print in carbon fiber

A Boston startup has introduced the first 3D printer capable of printing in carbon fiber, the super-strong and lightweight material used in race cars and space shuttles.

After a year of stealth development, the Mark One printer from Mark Forged was unveiled at the SolidWorks 3D-printing expo this week and is expected to retail for just $5,000.

The desktop printer is also capable of printing in fiberglass, nylon, and the thermoplastic PLA, as well as a composite of these materials with layers of carbon fiber added for strength. Mark Forged says it will be useful in building stronger prototypes as well as "prosthetics, custom bones, tools, and fixtures."

Carbon fiber is 20 times stronger than the plastics typically used in 3D printing, Mark Forged says.

I must admit, my brain does not relate to 3D printing. I can understand taking a raw product and making something from it, but, not this. Creating something from nothing is beyond my comprehension. Next, someone will go to the moon, yea, right.

Another reason I did not watch it ....

It is a beautiful thing being President Obama. You can pretty much say whatever you want and never be held accountable for it. Sure, a Washington Post fact-checker will dutifully note the brazen falsehoods. The media dutifully reports on most everything. But make Obama pay a political price for not telling the truth in a State of the Union address about the number of jobs created and number of ObamaCare enrollees?

Never.

Tuesday night, the president told Americans, “The more than eight million new jobs our businesses have created over the past four years.”
Nope.
The data also show that since the start of his presidency, about 3.2 million jobs have been created — and the number of jobs in the economy still is about 1.2 million lower than when the recession began in December 2007.

Obama said: “Today, women make up about half our workforce. But they still make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. That is wrong, and in 2014, it’s an embarrassment.”
Nope.
There is clearly a wage gap, but differences in the life choices of men and women — such as women tending to leave the workforce when they have children — make it difficult to make simple comparisons.

Obama is using a figure (annual wages, from the Census Bureau) that makes the disparity appear the greatest. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, for instance, shows that the gap is 19 cents when looking at weekly wages. The gap is even smaller when you look at hourly wages — it is 14 cents — but then not every wage earner is paid on an hourly basis, so that statistic excludes salaried workers.

And finally, there was Obama's shameless inflation of the ObamaCare enrollment numbers: "More than nine million Americans have signed up for private health insurance or Medicaid coverage.”
Nope.
Obama carefully does not say these numbers are the result of the Affordable Care Act, but he certainly leaves that impression. But the Medicaid part of this number — 6.3 million from October through December — is very fuzzy and once earned a rating of Three Pinocchios. …

The private insurance numbers — about 3 million — are also open to question. The troubled federal exchange counts people as enrolled if an individual has selected a plan, but it does not know if a person enrolled and paid a premium because that part of the system has yet to be built.

Obama's falsehoods aren't small things. He is using these falsehoods to manipulate American policy. And he will continue to do so and the media will continue to dutifully report his doing so. But he will never be made to pay a political price.

A culture of deceit in Columbus schools

Harris allowed data fraud to flourish, state auditor says; 4 principals suspended; charges possible

Harris made $205,980 a year: A base salary of $186,480, a tax sheltered annuity of $13,500 and a $6,000 car allowance.The district also pays for a $300,000 life insurance policy and Harris’ state pension contributions. Harris also receives a $6,000 expense account and 25 vacation days (in addition to school holidays). Had the job for 11 years.

Former Columbus Superintendent Gene Harris surrounded herself with cheaters, and then nurtured and protected them.

The findings of an 18-month state investigation released yesterday tell a story of a superintendent who presided over a culture in which administrators lost sight of their mission to educate children and instead focused on creating an illusion that they were getting good academic results. State Auditor Dave Yost’s long-awaited report found that some Columbus school employees set out to deceive the state and federal education departments — and the people of Columbus.

“In fact, it appears that many of these children were seemingly being passed through the system without receiving an adequate education” or the help required by law, the audit found.

“They were making it up,” Yost said.

Is there in existence, anywhere, an HONEST public figure? Is there anyone, again, anywhere, who is supported by the public, that is HONEST. Politicians, we know about them. The first question on their application to become a politician is:
Are you honest?    (Y)   (N) ... A (Y) answer will automatically terminate this test and interview, and you will not now, or ever, be able to run for public office, or work, in any capacity for any government entity until such time you may be convicted of a felony. Refer to Book 4, Section C, page 426, paragraph 6.675 (8).
Governors, mayors, officials, educators, there is no limit.
WORTHY ..... IS NO ONE .... WORTHY?

LIRR Riders Warned to Expect Delays for Evening Rush

Long Island Rail Road commuters should expect delays during Wednesday's evening rush.

A third-rail cable fire in one of the East River tunnel tubes earlier in the day is forcing the railroad to cancel or combine eastbound trains.

Westbound service from Jamaica to Penn Station is suspended. Customers can use the E subway train instead.

A Penn Station-bound train got stuck in one of the tubes when the fire broke out. About 100 people were on board, but there were no injuries, officials said.

The state of the union ............

-9 in Newark, Ohio this morning, sitting here with the TV on, listening to "Easy Instrumentals" ... developing a sore throat, have two pair of socks on, one thermal, heavy sweatshirt, sweatpants, a Snuggie and another lite-weight blanket covering my legs. The sun is out, that helps. It is 71.6 here in the apartment, but that does not matter, I know how cold it is ...... and it is COLD.

No, I did not listen to the words of Obama last night, I rarely listen to him speak, and never for extended periods of time. I prefer listening to people who are interested in me and my problems, someone who actually has solutions to problems, is sincere, and genuinely interested. He has not even proven to my satisfaction that he is qualified for the position he is holding.

Opportunist comes to mind, charismatic enters the picture, his charisma got him elected, nothing else, he was groomed by someone, for some reason, for what is transpiring now, much of which, I think, we are unaware of. Proving ones identity happens often. I have a VALID Birth Certificate, a VALID high school diploma, a VALID DD-214 to show my time in the Navy, a VALID drivers license, a VALID Social Security Card, all genuine and all real. I doubt that he can say that, without smiling.

I realize, also, that he has writers who write the speech for him, after much deliberation and thought. Whatever he said, each point was calculated, each guest, was calculated, the entire evening from start to finish, was orchestrated, each word, each introduction, each comment, each camera angle and his expressions, were orchestrated, just like the New York Philharmonic. One has to wonder, actually, who conducted it.

One thing, I doubt, was ever mentioned, the true State of the Union .................... Executive Orders, how great a concept is that?

Take your pick.......

Marshawn Lynch was there ....

And, he makes four million a year ..... at least. He did not major in English at Cal.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Marshawn Lynch was there. He even talked a bit. Then he was gone, cutting short his Super Bowl media day appearance after 6 1-2 minutes.

And then he was back, albeit to the side of the "mixed zone" the NFL created for players not on podiums or in microphone-equipped speaking areas at the Prudential Center. But this time he wasn't speaking, except briefly to Deion Sanders for NFL Network, to the Seahawks website, and to Armed Forces Network.

Seattle's star running back, wearing a cap, hood and dark sunglasses, even acknowledged he was trying to avoid being fined by the league for not meeting his media requirements Tuesday. That's why he returned to the floor of the arena rather than disappear completely after he cut short his Q and A with perhaps 100 media members packed together trying to hear his pearls of wisdom.

When he came back, one reporter asked Lynch, "Are you trying to avoid being fined by standing here?" Lynch twice nodded his head yes.

Earlier this month, Lynch was fined $50,000 for not cooperating with the Seattle media. The NFL put the fine on hold, saying it would be rescinded if he complied with media obligations.

"Players are required to participate and he participated. We will continue to monitor the situation," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Tuesday.

Lynch has required media sessions Wednesday and Thursday. The Seahawks play the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Along with letting slip a profanity to Sanders, he three times described himself as "smooth" to the Hall of Fame cornerback, adding: "I ain't never seen no talk that won me nothing."

Welcome ..............

Welcome to my blog, DOOLEY Observed. I have been on the Internet for over 15 years, when nobody knew what a www was. Big company name, no www. Now it is a little company name and a BIG www. How times have changed.

I have never been a big blogger, but recently have gotten more interested. Seems like terrorists, pirates, billions and trillions, friends getting laid off, have peeked my interest. I am retired, so not much I can do .... so I am BLOGGING.

A news item this morning got my interest also. There are more people making a living off of BLOGS, than there are attorneys.

I wish I had started this many years ago.
