Police are searching for the gunman they say is "armed and dangerous" who is believed to have fled the scene in a white SUV. Police have named Sang Ho Kim as a person of interest in the shooting. Police say the shooting does not appear to be random and likely isolated.
A Nassau County police spokeswoman would only say there was an "active scene" near the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island. The gunman was initially described as an Asian male, about 6’2 dressed in a red shirt and a suit jacket.
One of the victims was killed and the other is in critical condition at an area hospital, sources told The New York Post.
The source added that the shooter may be a disgruntled employee.
Newsday reported police had several streets blocked near the mall. It's located about 30 miles east of New York City.
The newspaper also reported the nearby Garden City schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
