They are surrounded by fans, plus, and I think the secret to the success of the whole show, some guy, in a blue shirt today, with a couple of laptops in front of him, helping make the guys look good.
Chris Fowler hosts with Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and some occasional guests. Corso, the "comic relief" arm of the show, in college was the roommate of Burt Reynolds, did some coaching, he last job at Indiana for nine years or so. Very colorful, the show would be flat without him.
Then an oddity. Desmond Howard went to Michigan, Kirk Herbstreit went to Ohio State, arch rivals. Howard is a Heisman recipient.
Fowler keeps his fingers on the pulse of the show, and does a remarkable job keeping the show moving along. They have guests, coaches and players, and amazingly, create interest in a potential game, that they know will be boring. Last week the majority of the games around the country were, well, no-brainers and they had their work cut out for them.
They desperately tried hard to inject excitement into the Ohio State-Florida A&M game, OSU was favored by 60 points. OSU won by 74, I think, you would have thought it was an upset.
The banter of the four is great though, three hours of just talking ain't easy, they do a good job.
The student drawn signs are great, they get a lot of time and coverage.
