SMI - 9/21

Rain in Nerk, Ahia today, along with cloudy and gloomy. Hard to follow an opening line like that.

Chicago's Delle Donne rookie of year - Elena Delle Donne scored 20 points to lead Chicago after receiving the league's Rookie of the Year award before the game, but the lost to Indiana.

Established gambling markets faltering -  Established gambling towns like Las Vegas and Atlantic City are hurting as more states start welcoming bettors' dollars, Moody's Investors Service warned this week. The credit rating agency issued a report describing a shift in casino tax revenues away from New Jersey, Indiana and Nevada to new markets in places like Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio. The recession crushed gambling revenues across the county, and casino towns have been slow to bounce back. "The previously recession-proof Nevada gaming market has seen only a partial recovery since the recession," the report stated. Moody's warned that the state general fund could be in trouble if neighboring California legalized casino gambling.

Another industry is born. I remember, years ago, at Halloween, we dressed, creatively. A farmer, a scarecrow, a soldier, farmer, whatever we had around the house. We went around the neighborhood with a grocery sack from Krogers. We got candy bars, popcorn balls, gum things like that. I remember one house, on Chestnut Street, they gave me a penny, they had to be "rich" to do that. Now, here in Newark, Ohio, we have two GIGANTIC stores, they rent vacant places for a few months, and sell a myriad of products, costumes, decorations, anything you can think of. Fortunately, kids don't have to be creative anymore. Their creativity is only limited by their budget.

I am trying to get in to my Saturday Morning Cleaning Mode, having a difficult time. I think I will just get another cup of coffee and watch McBride, seen it a few times already, so no surprises, will hop around looking for some old Westerns.

Remember to watch OSU take on Florida A & M, "The Rape at the Shoe" as it is being called. There is some concern that the Florida team, as the game starts, might be arrested for "prostitution." "Have your way with me boys, you paid your $900,000.00 for an hour, do with me, as you will." 60 point favorites, will that be a nail bitter, or what?
