Body Found Near I-71 In North Columbus Closes Northbound Lanes

COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Columbus police has closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 just south of East Cooke Road after a body was found in the area early Wednesday morning.

Officers and EMS personnel were dispatched to I-71 north at about 5 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a pedestrian struck.

One person was pronounced dead by medics at about 5:04 a.m.

The northbound lanes remain closed between Interstate 670 and East Cooke Road. Motorists are being diverted onto I-670 from I-71 north.

The ramps from Hudson Street, Weber Road, East North Broadway, East 5th, East 11th, and East 17th avenues onto I-71 north are also closed.

No other information was readily available.
