What do you know ... you just have a Doctors Degree?

What happened to EDUCATION?

Am I wrong, or was not, a local school board, local administration and teachers involved in the amount of and quality of education. When did politics get involved? I remember years ago when some politician, hot on the campaign trail, would talk about education, and we wondered, why, what does he have to do with it, and then, he had nothing to do with it.

The school board was involved to a point. I remember covering school board meetings, taking notes to report on the meetings, and, the Superintendent of Schools, ruled. Why? Because he was educated, had his Doctorate in Education, had experience, and the school and the community relied on him. Not some illiterate, hardly educated, politician, whose only claim was winning an election, and had no idea what he was talking about.

I have always wondered about the rationale of "Boards." Basically, people who know little to nothing, advising and telling knowledgeable, trained people, how and what to do, makes no sense.

We have boards at every level, and we also have trained educators at every level, who has the final say, you got it, and how did they get there, elected by voters who are the least knowledgeable of all, and generally vote because of their "affiliation." which has nothing to do with education.

How much would be saved if there were NO School boards, just highly skilled and trained Superintendents and Principals. I know it is Principal..... why, because I learned, many years ago, from a TEACHER that the Principal was my ....... pal. I think any and all decisions pertaining to education, should be made by EDUCATORS.

Obama, today, is laying out HIS PLAN for higher education, was that why he was elected?
