Dad, these are great, why can't you cook like this, Mom?

Sales and marketing are great, aren't they.

A thought came to mind, how any why is "outdoor barbecuing" so popular? Answer: Advertising, Dad in the Chef's hat, standing over the barbeque, turner in hand, surrounded by hungry friends and neighbors, everyone smiling and happy.

But, where is Mom. Well she is in the kitchen, shaping the burgers, chopping the salad stuff, making a dressing, and doing ALL of the other work necessary to make the dinner a success, and make Dad look good. Oh, and she does all the clean up afterwards while Dad is sitting, relaxing, having a Bud, talking with those who just ate HIS "cooking."

Just think of the market someone created, probably another billion or so industry, every Summer.

And, who, generally, is the most experienced cook in the house, Mom. Why is it then, with NO training at all, Dad wears the "chefs" hat, and the apron with all the clever rhetoric about being a great cook silk screened thereon. It does not take a PnD to put a hunk of meat over a fire, turn it over, and put it on a bun.

"Oh, these are delicious, you are such a great cook."

"No problem, want another beer, Ethyl, bring out another beer."

Note to school systems: Teach a Senior Class on Barbecuing and Outdoor Cooking
