Caleb has me trained ....

Another glorious bright and sunny morning in Ohio. Just hit 8 o'clock, have completed our morning ritual with Caleb, our  dog, we have a program we go through, every morning.

He starts a low whining sound about 7:45, starts out low and get louder. I swing my legs out of the bed, look at the clock, generally 8:00. Amazing how he knows. Then he jumps up on the bed and sleeps where I just had been sleeping.  I get up and head to the kitchen to make coffee. When I get up, Caleb will be sound asleep near the bed, my spot, that he just took over. I empty yesterdays coffee grounds, put  in fresh grounds, turn and look, and there he is. We have some dental treat things, he gets his first one of the day, turns and walks away. By the time I put the water in and hit the ON button, there he is again for treat number 2. By the time the coffee is done, I pour my first cup, sit down and relax, ready to enjoy that first cup, and there he is ..... wants to go out.

The short morning walk I rather enjoy. A little after 8, we head out, barefooted. The grass is cool and moist, the texture and moisture are pleasant sensations on my tired old feet. I think it does them good. Don't tell Caleb, I really enjoy those short walks. Anyway, we do the walk .... one other thing. If I remember to take a Walmart plastic bag with me, to pick up, he doesn't. If I don't take one, he will, then I have to go back out and .... well, pick up. I don't know how or why he does that.

Back in after the walk, another treat, he retires to my side of the bed and sleeps till around noon. Every morning, same thing. When we change times here, I don't know how he knows, but his plan does not vary.

He's good, just looked down and there he is, sitting and staring at me. "Walk?" No response. He wanted another treat. must know it's Sunday.

(Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye, love those old songs, Don Cornell .... really takes me back)

Thoroughly enjoyed last evening, my Wife's 60th Newark High School reunion. I know a few of them to say hello to, so I just stand back, which is not easy for me, and let her reminisce and enjoy the evening. A lot of promises to "get together," same ones we were going to "get together" with at the last reunion. Excellent dinner at Moundbuilders Country Club, interesting people at our table.

Mr. Ault, I think it was, apparently worked for Bordens, and for many years he was the one to take Elsie, the Borden Cow, around to fairs, etc, took her all over. He is retired but still does some speaking engagements on the subject. He had a hand in products and equipment used today by Wendy's and Bob Evans restaurants.

I have a LOT of brown spots on the side of my face .... I looked around, I didn't see any of them with brown spots, what have I done wrong. They were all three years my junior, but I can't see them developing them in three years. One guy was an avid golfer so I know he spent a lot of time in the sun. A nice evening.
