I remember this show for much of my life. WLW was the voice of the Midwest, it was the radio station most listened to in our house. Peter Grant, Ruth Lyons, Paul Dixon, Bob Braun and more, were almost members of our household. And there were so many others. If a performer was anywhere in the Midwest, he promoted it on WLW. Everyone appeared on the Ruth Lyons show. Products became household words because of Ruth.

At night, Moon River. The end of the day, it made me sad, and I thought it was for "old folks."

"Andy Williams’ signature hit was “Moon River.” And when he worked at WLW-AM as a teen in the 1940s, the station aired a hugely popular dreamy overnight show of poetry and romantic music called “Moon River.”

I remember way back in the 30's I made a "Crystal Radio Set" and after I went to bed I would get under the covers, break out the Crystal Set and listen to WLW for as long as I could stay up. Most of my Moon River listening was on on those earphones. It was "delicious" I was supposed to be asleep, I was hiding, and listening to what was being broadcast over 50 miles away, and I was "getting away" with it.
