It is, as of today, July 24, 2013, and Summer is fading away. The Ohio State Fair starts today, it used to start in the Fall, ended around Labor Day, and then school started. Walmart is already displaying and selling school supplies. The NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio is counting down the days till their ceremony and the first game of the season.
Summers used to be long, nice long, hot, hazy, lazy days. It seemed like I went to school for a half of a year, and Summered the other half. Now, it seems like Summer is not much more than a long weekend.
I was wondering, the other day, who started Summer, and why? We decided it was the farmers who started it, they needed the kids home during June, July and August, to work on the farm. So, the schools just closed for those three months, they needed to call it something, so they called it Summer.
Well, there are no more farms, so they are doing away with it, why not just go to school year round, heaven knows kids of today need the education.
Now the year is divided up by Football, Basketball and Baseball.
