Firefighters are battling a fire in Jersey Shore that started at a frozen custard shop and spread to the boardwalk, officials said.
The Seaside Park Police Chief said the boardwalk, which survived Sandy, was burning, and some buildings were giving way. Windy conditions were complicating the firefighting effort.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The Ocean County Sheriff's office tweeted that the fire erupted at Kohrs Frozen Custard in Seaside Park, and warned visitors to "avoid the area."
The fire was burning along a section of boardwalk between Stockton and Farragut avenues, and spread to multiple buildings.
