9/11 Museum, cemetery, exhibition, who is it for?

In four days, (04) - 9/11 .... millions, perhaps billions, are being spent to make sure that we never forget that date. I need nothing more that to see those numbers, or hear it spoken. I remember some specific dates, December 7, the Kennedy assassination, and some others, but nine-eleven conjure up more visions, in my mind, than any other date. We heard about Pearl Harbor, and we have heard of others, but none have the "memory impact" of nine eleven.

I sat, stared at the TV, in an almost trance like state, as the day unfolded. Emotions unveiled, some I did not know I even had, nothing of this magnitude had ever happened in my life, before.

I have talked with some, who were there, some observers from a distance, and some, at or near, "ground zero." He has not been able to see or even hear of anything, about the event.

Why, do we, or does someone, want to create a "monument" to such a horrendous event. Why do "they" find it necessary to create a monument, to "open the wound." Why? We seem to be enamored of such sites. I guess we just like to "look, open the wound, and cry."

I think there is something in the human psyche that draws us to the macabre. In the old West, they displayed the body's of bandits, I remember pictures of notorious gunmen and outlaws, photographed standing in their pine boxes. Madame Tussauds goes back to 1777 displaying wax figures of historical figures, but her most popular display was the "Chamber of Horrors."  Auswitch has a museum, we seem obsessed with death and horror.

I have no desire to see the 9/11 Exhibit, my memories are bad, and more than enough.
