Don't know what got me thinking of it this morning, the Beverley Hills Supper Club, located in Northern Kentucky, just across the river from Cincinnati. It used to be "the" spot in the Midwest. My family was not familiar with it as I was growing up, and I really didn't hear much about it till I was in Nevada in the 50's. A number of people I worked with or knew of, had worked there. It was a supper club with top notch entertainment, and an illegal casino.
Dean Martin was a dealer there, as were many in Nevada. Well known entertainers had appeared there. I had friends in Dayton who often made the drive and talked of the place. Old Burt that I worked with at Tahoe had worked there some. Del Webb, a well known magician/entertainer, got his start there. I later learned that many of my "bosses" had gotten there start there. I went there on a couple of occasions.
HERE is a good link to some of the history, and there are more on the devastating fire that occurred there.
A forgotten piece of history ....
