John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time (18:30 UTC) on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was fatally shot by a sniper while traveling with his wife Jacqueline, Texas Governor John Connally, and Connally's wife Nellie, in a presidential motorcade.
I was standing at the counter of Southgate Men's Shop where I worked, only back from Nevada a short time. I think a customer came to the store and told us, we turned the radio on and listened to the news. I am not even sure if we stayed opened the rest of that day, John Slanker, Manager or Bob Hansel, Owner, might have just closed the store down. The world, as we knew it, stopped, that day.
I am not sure what emotions I felt, hearing that news, whatever they were, that moment is frozen in time in my life. Even today I can almost feel, see and hear those moments, they are almost "etched" in my mind.
December 7, 1941, is also there, and I know the incident by the date. I admit, without checking, I did not know the date the incident happened. The incident I remember vividly, not the date. We still are not sure who all was involved, no proof, just theory.
22 November 1963.
