Just came from our "frequent" trip to Walmart. We chatted with one of their employees that we have gotten to know, as he was stocking shelves.
We found out:
It passed, they will soon have "Sunday Sales" of wine and beer, not sure which license they got, but it passed. Just what they need, MORE SALES. Has not started yet, but it passed.
Thanksgiving Thursday, evening Black Friday is starting at Walmart, and, on Friday too. They have 300 skids of product coming in for those two days .............. 300 SKIDS, which is a whole lot of product. Our Walmart, in North Newark, will probably have some near multi-million dollar days. My guess is that since the Myers store closed they have escalated their sales greatly. I just cannot conceive of the amount of product that they go through in a day, and that is one little store in the North end of Newark, Ohio.
I think that their advertising and perhaps some pressure, has caused an entire industry to forget about Thanksgiving and go directly to Christmas. They have moved Christmas to make up for those days after Black Friday. Usually we things after Thanksgiving, now, they are already doing it, all because of retailing.
Merry Christmas, hope you have a nice Thanksgiving, next year .........
