Sunday Morning ..

Took Caleb for a little walk this morning, leaves all over, on our porch and all over the yard. I think they are Maple leaves, in a variety of colors. They have a lot of Pine trees on the property here, needles I can understand, but where did the leaves come from. Must have been the wind the other night. Tornado not too far from here.

Years ago we were sitting watching TV, heard a train go by, in the distance. Next morning we found out it was a tornado passing not too far from us.

News on this Sunday morning, really not too much. In-fighting among the Democrats and the Republicans, as to who is to blame, for everything. Does anyone wonder if a "Third Party" might not come in handy. I am beginning to think that voting along "party" lines is done to insure re-election, and keep the "job" ... so to speak, because it is a REALLY GOOD JOB. Where else can they make that kind of money, have the benefits they have, the retirement and possibly a "war chest" of millions of dollars to retie on. They are modern day "Dillinger's." If I could go back and do a lot of this life over, I would go to work for the government at any level, or get in to politics. No GM or Xerox, just a good government job.

I once ate too many Salmon patties, got sick, and can't stand them any more. There are some other things I have over indulged in, and no longer eat/ I watched football played with leather helmets, many years ago, then, I think plastic of some kind, no face-guards. I listened to it on the radio in the late thirties and in to the 40's. I have gone to the Ohio Stadium and seen the Bucks, seen the Browns, the Steelers and been to the "Big House" and seen Michigan play. Seen many high school games and quite a few college games, DePauw, Denison. Saw  a game in San Diego with two service teams. I think I have been "over exposed" to the game.
It may be those "graphically exciting" helmets they wear. All of the "pink" they wear shows their support of a good cause, my wife had breast cancer. The NFL does a lot of "pink" .... I think I read where not much of the proceeds from Pink products actually goes to the "cause." There is just, something, unnatural about a big, brawny gladiator, running out onto the field of battle, wearing pink shoes and pink "hose." And, wearing a helmet with intricate graphics that would look more appropriate in an art museum, rather than a football field.

And, of course, a blue playing field, and if not that, in the various end zones, graphics and gaudy colors, football is now a BIG "SPLASH" of color. I think McDonalds and other have researched and found certain colors stimulate eating, I wonder what they have come up with for football.

I am finding it difficult to watch a complete game, or even a quarter. I am an admitted "channel hopper," and now, with MANY games on, I find it hard to concentrate on just one. I really enjoy watching football, at night, when only ONE game is on, I don't care who is playing, I will enjoy it. And, of course, too, as a channel hopper I become infuriated when I go through all those channels and there are COMMERCIALS on each and every one of them. Football doesn't "rule" .... advertisers do.

When at a game that is televised, look for the guy down on the field with the colorful sleeve, when his arm goes up, play stops, for a commercial, he rules the game.
