Not a Brown Street trolley, but you can see the two overhead contacts ......

I admit it, I am old, but, fortunately, I remember "better" times, the "old days." Maybe I was just young and naive, but times were better. Am I wrong, in school, we had a Superintendent, a School Board, Principal, etc., I know it is spelled "Principal" because he was our Pal. Did they not determine the curriculum? I don't remember politicians campaigning to straighten the schools out, they had nothing to do with it. Why and how, does some illiterate politician, with no education, have any right to tell an educator, with many degrees and an excellent education, how to run the schools?

Not just education, almost every facet of life, we have illiterate, uneducated politicians, whose only qualification for office is that they are breathing, tell those much more qualified how to do their job.

A man can go through school, perhaps West Point, serve in the military for many years, achieve a high rank, and then be told by some "politician" how to do his job.

The American trolley has lost its power, somewhere.

In my younger days, it was great sport, at night, maybe after a movie, to take the old Brown Street Bus, get off at a dark stop, and as rounding the back of the bus, pull on the ropes, and all the power on the bus would go out. Then, a mad, irate, driver would emerge, yelling obscenities, gesturing with raised fists, with threats about .... "the next time, I'll remember you."

But, the voters never seem to remember ........, do they?
