The "Touch" of the Man ..

Was talking a while ago about a friend who is going through Radiation and Chemo. He is a very strong, highly motivated person, and his present situation must be devastating to him, but I think that in his hour of need, he received that "touch" that enables him to survive, be strong, and come out of this therapy treatment, better and stronger.

When my wife went through a similar procedure for breast cancer some years ago, on a few occasions I sat with her, at the hospital, with all the tubes and devices that were being used on her, and I had the opportunity to meet and talk with others who were going through the same thing, some their second time, one lovely lady, her third time. They all had reason to be down, to yell and scream, "why me," .... but all those I came in contact with were .... well, some of the most remarkable, uplifting  people I have ever met.

I remember a war story of many years ago. An advance medical facility, near the front lines, where the wounded were first brought. In one of the cots, badly wounded, was a man, moaning, cursing his bad luck, yelling at nurses, screaming at Doctors, in his loudest voice, bemoaning his fate, using profanity, every term he could conjure up, blaming God for all his problems.

In a cot next to him was another soldier, more severely wounded, laying quietly and stoically in his pain and agony. He looked over to his fallen comrade and said, "My friend, we may not have long to live, so in the time we have left, let's be decent." He had been "Touched."

In our "time of need," our "darkest hours," He is there, with his "Touch."
