The Color Man ........

Wow, what a great day, we are here in Portland, Oregon for the finals of the Outdoor National Track Championships and the weather is perfect. Little to no wind, so times won't be affected, and we have an assortment of the greatest competitors in the world. As I understand it, 82 colleges are represented here today, and many who have already been crowned champions in their respective events. Out first event here today will be the 100 yard dash and all eight lanes will be filled with a variety of champions. In lane one we have the National Collegiate Champion who has recorded record times this year and also garnered a number of medals in the recently finished indoor season. His times are comparable to many that have been turned in this year around the world. In lane two, a relative newcomer to the track scene in the form of an Indonesian immigrant who came to this country via a scholarship to Oral Roberts University who had never competed before in any competition, but coach Harley Dickerson spotted him running to class one day and after a long, lengthy chase, performed by assistant coach Smedley Schorr, convinced him to try out for the track team. In lane three a two time champion, a season veteran whose training routine has been questioned by many who are knowledgeable in the field ........ what ........ it can't be ............ well folks, I guess I talked a little too long and the race is over ..... ah ..... who .....?
