It is somewhat amusing how we all have to be "entertained" to make it through life. What would life be like without sports, sports of all kinds, they "amuse" us, entertain us, occupy us during many of our waking hours. If you look at the news, which I just did a little bit ago, , the "news" itself is perhaps a third of what we see and read, sports is about two thirds ... more than world news.
Sports comes under my category of "Mental Masturbation." Board games come under that same category, bridge, cards, chess, etc. I imagine that the cave men were mainly concerned with survival, finding food, shelter from the elements, survival. But then, he found a cave, discovered fire, discovered ... women ... companionship, so then, in that warm cozy cave, sitting around that fire, looking at his woman, he started getting bored.
So, he put a brontosaurus bone on a teradactial egg, picked up a rock, and tried to knock the brontosaurus bone off the the teradactial egg. Sport was invented. Mog was getting bored sitting in his cave, with his woman, by their fire, so he went to his neighbors cave and saw Gor throwing a rock at a brontosaurus bone sitting on a teradactial egg, spectator sports was born.
Through technology, inventions and advances, Mental Masturbation has grown to monumental proportions, and I think, with the advances in the cell phone, television, computers, our "sports" figures now overshadow all others. This morning, Tony Stewart, who ran over and killed a fellow irate driver, seems to be bigger news that any other story. He has added another whole dimension to the sport, run down and kill other drivers. It may increase the popularity of the already popular sport, while making room for new and other drivers to rise in the sport. I see a lawsuit of OJ proportions on the horizon, a lawsuit on TV, the epitome of Mental Masturbation.
Apparently the Hawaii weather did not materialize as hoped for, I had a hard time finding anything on it, but the Stewart story was easy to find, as well as some information about professional football games, exhibition games to be exact that have been recently played.
I have to cut off here, was channel hopping and saw that "College Fishing" is on ESPNU .... I don't want to miss that .................
