Forecasters warned that Hawaii could face a one-two punch of extreme weather as Hurricane Iselle approaches the islands with Tropical Storm Julio not far behind.
It is extremely rare to have such major storms in such quick succession, according to Weather Channel lead meteorologist Kevin Roth.
Forecasters expect swells from Iselle to start affecting coastlines Wednesday and the Category 4 hurricane could weaken to a tropical storm by Thursday and Friday. Julio is predicted to reach hurricane status as early as Tuesday, but hit the eastern islands late Saturday into Sunday, also as a weakened tropical storm.
