Michigan State player is a BIG WINNER

Michigan State senior Adreian Payne helped lead the Spartans to the Big Ten tournament title Sunday against rival Michigan, and he celebrated afterward with a special friend.

Payne cut down the nets with the help of 8-year-old Lacey Holsworth, a Michigan State superfan who has been battling cancer for years. Holsworth and Payne met more than a year ago, when the Spartans visited Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Lacey thought she had conquered her neuroblastoma previously and her family took a trip to Disneyland to celebrate, but when the returned doctors found that the cancer had come back.

When Lacey was able to leave the hospital, Payne made sure she had tickets to Michigan State games, and the two traded texts and tweets all season. On senior night, Payne held Lacey’s hand as they took the court together.
