The big NCAA annual event tournament is underway, a big television event happens in March.
The first thing I noticed, seemed to me that there were a LOT of commercials. It was almost a long commercial interrupted occasionally by a basketball game. It used to be a televised basketball game, now it has become a television show about a basketball game, BIG difference. Same thing happened to the Super Bowl.
I am amazed also, at this time of year, how equal teams become. I am sure much of it is all of the experience they have gained during the year, the excitement of the "BIG" game, causes such close games, and so many "upsets." It makes for some really great "television." And, that is what they want.
Prior to yesterday, it was the University of Dayton, playing THE Ohio State University. Now, it is THE University of Dayton .... they beat OSU. OSU was predicted, by many, to progress through the tournament, but that is not to be.
As I said before, my bracket predictions were shot down on the FIRST game.
Let's be realistic, TV RULES .... it dominates our lives, tells us what to eat, where to eat, what cars to buy. Radio used to be that medium, now TV. Arthur Godfrey told me to drink Lipton Tea, take Bayer aspirin, and I do, loyalty, to this day. Ruth Lyons, local Tri-State celebrity, I use Hellman's Mayonnaise, and automatically buy products that Ruthy wanted us to purchase, for so many years.
TV Rules, let's face it .... however, the Internet is jumping in there a little also .... I am in trouble, sitting here with my laptop, watching TV .....
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."-- Thomas Jefferson
"When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." .... jbd
"When once a job you have begun, do no stop till it is done. Whether the task be great or small, do it well, or not at all." .... Anon
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
Television is one daylong commercial interrupted periodically by inept attempts to fill the airspace in between them.If you can't start a fire, perhaps your wood is wet ....
When you elect clowns, expect a circus ..............
