Sunday Morning Musings ...............

I am watching a war flick, Alan Ladd is a paratrooper in England, they have now jumped and are somewhere, killing Germans, right and left. They seem to be Commandos. Now the Germans are killing them. "Thou Shalt Not Kill." What makes it right to KILL during wartime, or under what circumstances is it right, and why? Roosevelt declared WAR and that made it right or legal or what? Thou shalt not kill unless, there is a war, or you are a policeman or you are defending your home. Do the other Commandments have exceptions?

Should anyone start building an Ark? A whole lot of rain going on around the country, we had some street flooding around town here, and more rain today and tonight.

Alan Ladd just turned down an opportunity to be an officer, he wants to stay a Private, wonder what that is all about. Oh, he just punched a guy, the guy recognized him ... he ducked out real quick. The plot thickens.

Mike. I have known him for a number of years through mutual friends. I have always liked and admired him. He exhibits qualities I wish I had. I really don't know a lot about his background, but if he had been drafted into the Army, they would have sent him to Officers Candidacy School. If he had been on old time radio, he would have been Jack Armstrong. If he had gone to Hollywood he would have been a "leading man." I have been at a few parties where he was in attendance, and he enjoyed a good time. I would only perhaps see him once or twice a year, a few times at Ohio State football pre-game parties. He was one of a few true salesmen I have ever known, he had all those qualites. Mike got tired easily, reccently, and went to see his doctor. He is now taking Chemo and Radiation treatments. I can only imagine what he is going through, I went through the same treatments with my wife, so I am familiar with the procedures. Even though we were not close friends I felt a sadness when I heard the news. I have included him in my prayers at night, quite a few people will read this, please include "Mike" in your prayers tonight, He will know .......

Alan is getting ready to jump, he is a paratrooper, they are going to take an airfield back from the Germans. Looks like after much killing and fighting of all kinds, they have done it. In reality, he was only 5"6," but he seems taller on the screen. OMG, they are in the middle of a minefield, looks like the Germans are going to win this one. The English are just standing, frozen, in a minefirld, and the Germans want them to surrender, they have given them three minutes .... it does not look good. The movie is The Paratrooper.

PS- Alan Ladd is going to stay where he is in the British Paratroopers, even though he is an American and is going to think about becoming an officer, the bagpipes are playing and they fade away in to the smoke of the battle with him placing a burgandy beret, the headwear of the his unit, on a cross on a grave, of a friend. The battle was just over, how did they get people buried so fast. Right, it was a movie ..........
