Harry Reid and other proponents of the Gang of Eight Amnesty scheme aren't stupid. They know that the calls and faxes coming from patriotic Americans are having a profound effect. That's why they're in such a hurry to ram Amnesty down our throats.
Approximately two weeks ago, when given the opportunity to kill Amnesty outright, 30 Republicans betrayed you and voted to keep it alive... but your calls and faxes had the desired effect... the tide started to rapidly turn.
The proponents of Amnesty scrambled to stop the bleeding. Enter Senators Corker and Hoeven. They transformed the Amnesty bill into a 1200-page monstrosity and then falsely claimed that their revisions transformed the Amnesty bill into an "enforcement bill" that would be acceptable to the American people... It wasn't... far from it.
And then, taking a play out of Nancy Pelosi's book, they unveiled the text of their "legislative fix" on Friday, as Senators were catching flights to go home for the weekend, and Harry Reid called the measure to a vote on it on Monday.
The vote was so rushed that many Senators were still in transit from the airport to the floor of the Senate when the voting started. If not so tragic, it would have been comical.
Immediately after the vote, Senator Jeff Sessions issued the following statement: "The Gang of Eight and their allies revealed their true tactics tonight. They shut down debate and blocked amendments to a 1,200-page immigration bill that no one has read. It was anything but the open and fair process that they had promised."
But an amazing thing happened... the number of betrayers fell from 30 to 15... and as you read this urgent update, more betrayers are jumping from Amnesty like rats jumping from a sinking ship.
A final vote on this 1,200-page Amnesty monstrosity will happen this week… perhaps within hours of the time you read this urgent letter. And we need a final push. We must deluge our elected officials will faxes and calls in the coming hours and time - thanks to Harry Reid - is not our ally.
