A different time and place

This is not the one, but it was similar to this ...

Don't know why, something made me think back to around 1952 or so, I was in the Navy, in San Diego, California. I am not sure exactly what, when or where, for sure, but I had rented an apartment, somewhere in San Diego. I think there were six or so units, I can picture them in my mind.

Nothing unique about that, I do remember all of the apartments were rented to service personnel. Nothing unique so far. I don't know how it all came about, but we were going out somewhere, and a neighbor mentioned that "the old Ford four-door out there goes with that apartment." I had noticed a key hanging in the kitchen but had not questioned what it went to, now I knew.

That is what I mean by a different time and place, and I really don't remember anything about it, but we had that old Ford, a '39 as I recall.

Apparently, some time in the life of that apartment, someone owned that car, got transferred, could not take the car for some reason, so it just stayed. I don't remember any of the particulars, plates, etc., I do remember when we left, the car stayed there for the next renters.

It was just a different time and place then .....................
