Save the Nauga

I am picking up the "Battle Flag" of a fallen animal friend and carrying it on to Victory. So little is heard any more about this courageous member of the pleather family.

A Dooley Observed reader in far off Oklahoma read my blog which contained my concerns about alligators and hogs. He reminded me of his oft remembered concerns about the treatment of the Nauga. Since he is in a corner of our great country that is often forgotten, I am sure it was his intent for me to carry on this battle to enlighten the populace about the plight of the Nauga.

New materials have been developed recently and his hyde is being used less and less. Perhaps this is due to the Nauga almost becoming extinct. A move was underfoot some years ago to get the Nauga on the endangered species list, but a lobbyist in Washington who was on the Steelcase payroll was successful in derailing the movement.

I once invested in a Nauga Ranch which was located in Pahrump, Nevada and run by Hidden Earth followers. They maintained that the Nauga could not adapt to the Nevada climate, and the remaining herd was shipped to China where they were to be bred, and in turn the hydes shipped back to the United States, oddly enough, and sold to the Steelcase Company.

I will continue the fight to preserve the Nauga. I don't want to see him go the way of the "cattle guards" in Texas.
