Am I Better off today....................

Am I better off today .................. that I was four years ago?

That is a political question that is being tossed about ....................... so I've given some thought to it.. Simply, NO, I am not better off.

We have missed a few SS raises, our rent has gone up each year, many foods are now just a dream. We shop "day old" and reduced down prices at the store, all generic brands, NO top shelf items. Been a few years since I bought cereal that was not in a "dented and reduced down" box. Red meat is only a dream now, all we buy is brown and day old. Almost everything we run though the self check out causes trouble because of the old and wrinkled bar code. We are saving a lot of meat and produce from being turned in to dog food by purchasing it on its "last day."

Green vegetables are a thing of the past, all brown now, and many are pretty soft, about ready for the trash. The food pantry won't take many of the items we purchase.

Better off, no way. Is the country better off, just look at the national debt and the shape the country is in. I think crime must be on the rise, there is a shooting or two every day in the larger cities, two or three bank robberies a day robberies have added a new dimension to "convenience" stores. Unemployed and homeless everywhere, job fairs attract thousands, gas prices go up and down. Seems like the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I personally have no respect for politicians any more, of either party, at any level.

We did pretty good when we were both doing some part time demonstrating at Walmart and at Kroger's, but we are both physically unable to work anymore, had to cut out a lot of things we used to do. We miss that additional income.

Are better off that we were four years ago, hell no!
