I am trying to come up with a scenario I can relate to present day Washington. The only thing that comes to mind, is Jack, the bartender at the Crystal Bay Club, North Side, Lake Tahoe, many years ago. We became good friends, a number of us did, all casino workers. Tahoe was just starting to get ready for the Winter Olympics, which was a year away, places normally closed in the Winter, now open, sparse crowds, so we became a "morning" group of friends. The reason I think of Jack, I heard that later on, Jack had a heart attack, was taken to the Carson City Hospital. Later on, the story goes, Jack regained consciousness, opened his eyes, and there by his bed, his wife ..... and, on the other side of the bed, his girlfriend.
I never knew the outcome, one can only imagine. Obama must have the same thoughts running through his mind, what to do. Little to nothing that he has done, has been right. He brings a prisoner home, usually he would be riding in the limo with the prisoner, big broad grin, waving to the crowd. The one he had released, maybe a deserter, and ............ and ........... he exchanged five, evil, highly skilled and trained, dedicated to destroying our country, terrorists.
Each thing he does, is done, in my estimation, to draw attention to something else, which is flawed. He is swimming the channel, in the middle, he has tried all of his "strokes," and he is wearing out, in, over his head. But, in his defense, he has been in that situation since he was sworn in. And he has had GIANT questions marks hanging over his head since he got there on his "platform" of ........... being charismatic. But, unfortunately, that is all it takes to be the president.
A situation arose, he was the right person, at the right place, at the right time, and he took advantage of it. There are a number of people who have "opened that door" of opportunity, however, they are all singers, well, not necessarily singers, entertainers, well not necessarily entertainers .... just at the right place at the right time.
Elvis and Obama have much in common in that respect, only, Elvis could sing.
