I shed a tear .... or two

I cried, yesterday, I will admit it. Took me a while to get over it.

This dark photograph is the reason. I am on a Facebook thing, about my old grade school, from the 30's  and 40's. a long time ago. I was exchanging some thoughts about where we lived, the neighborhood, some old teachers and "ancient" trivia.

Then a post came in: Jane Hampton 'scuse me Mr. Dooley...but is this your father?

And, there it was a photo of my Dad, holding a baby on his lap. Rare, no, he took hundreds of them. He was a "baby Doctor," and delivered many during his long career. In '48, when Polaroid came out, he started taking a picture of The Doctor, holding the Baby, that he had delivered. Did it when they came in for their six week checkup. He would hold the baby, and Charlotte Baker or his nurse would take the picture. I am surprised that the old Polaroids have lasted that long, and really surprised to see that one from Jane.

Over his right shoulder, two pictures, his first Grandchildren, Jane Dooley and Debra Dooley.

It was a pleasant shock, to say the least.
