7:45, Monday morning, 5/13/2013, and our lights flickered for an instant, Happens probably once a week, maybe even on Monday morning. I don't remember that ever happening when I was younger.
I don't think we had power outages in those days, I know we never had school closings. Some things were constant, etched in concrete, at least I am thinking they were.
Amos and Andy were on at a certain time, same night every week, said Merry Christmas, a few days before Christmas, they were live. They took the summer off, had a replacement show, but you knew they would be back, in the Fall, and they were, same time, same night. So were Bob Hope and Jack Benny and others, they were a part of life, but dependable. They were living the same life that I was.
There is not much that is "solid" in life anymore. Well, maybe a few things. Football in the Fall, Baseball in the Spring. It is May, and Saturday, a sports show was going over the first college games, and how they thought they would go, already. OK, yea, right. If the Republicans say yes, the Democrats will say no.
I guess another thing is sure, Republicans will somehow come up with negatives about Obama, rather than grooming a candidate for the future. They spend all the time in the "pits" working on cars, and never seem to get in the race.
I have the TV turned on, after the flicker, well, there is this couple living together, he is a teacher. Well they decided they wanted to bring another girl into their .... ahem, well, you know. Well, now his girlfriend has taken up with the other women, and well, he has too, and the first one doesn't know about it, well, she found out, and well, he is walking around crying, his first girlfriend is crying, and the other girl is crying, and well he goes over to the other girls place, and his girlfriend is there, sleeping, and she wakes up, and comes out, and the three of them have a cup of tea, and it's the end of the show, and the three of them are walking, hand in hand, well, he is on the outside, and his first girlfriend is in the middle and the other girl is on the other side, the music is playing, violins, I forgot, they had another girl living with them, she moved out too ... the end.
