Food for thought

Not a good Sunday morning topic, but I was channel hoping last night, and many of the shows openings remind me of "lineups" at the Bunny Ranch, with one exception, a Bunny Ranch lineup is more tasteful, with much nicer looking clientele. Where and how do they find so many girls, with such large breasts, who are willing to expose so much?

Kentucky Derby. It was great to see such genuine, sincere jubilation, as that jockey exhibited. In this day and age of million dollar athletes, it was nice to see a man genuinely excited at winning a race. He rode a great race, that overhead shot of him hugging the rail and taking over the lead, and then extending it was great. Nice to see.

Flu. I am concerned that the situation is much worse, and that "they" are keeping it low key so there is no panic throughout the world. I hope that is not the case.

Malthusian Theory, I remember this from high school.

Malthusian Population Trap (Malthusian Theory on Population Growth and Economic Development) Reverend Thomas Malthus published An Essay on the Principle of Population in 1798 which argued that population increases geometrically ( i.e. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16..) doubling every 30 to 40 years while food supplies expand only arithmetically (because of diminsihing returns to fixed factors such as land). This means that each person will have less land to work and therefore per capita food production will decline. Malthus argued that the only way to avoid this is to limit the number of children per family (what he calls negative checks on population). If negative checks do not exist, he continued, then the population will be checked by famines, epidemics or wars (what he calls these positive checks on population).

Something to think about. These are going on in the world now.
