Some quiet Sunday time ...........

Soft music coming from the TV, the sun is out, a little chilly though, but Fall is here, it feels like Fall, the furnace kicks on occasionally, and their was heavy frost on the car windows this morning.

What am I thankful for this beautiful Sunday morning, you ask, SPELL CHECK, is my answer. Actually, I had it as one word and it corrected me, it is two words. The older I get, the more I see those "red lines" under those words as I look back on the screen. Part of it is this laptop keyboard, used to one on a desk, or even a typewriter, or the keyboard on the old "Frieden Justowriter" or even the Compugraphic, I think it was, came out on film.

I remember a product we went to see, late 50's, drove to Cincinnati to see a machine with plastic disc "fonts" would print black on white on 35mm film, a Headliner, new, revolutionary and time saving. The old Frieden I set type on, produced a punched tape, which then went through the "reproducer" and out came "justified" type, margin on both sides. Those were the days of "cut and paste." Then shoot on film, develop, the the stripper came in, affixed the negative to an opaque "masking" sheet, then with a carbon arc lamp, "burned" the negative onto an aluminum plate, then the offset press, and .... voila .... the printed sheet.

Offset printing it was called, no spell check then, occasionally, something would get printed, with an error, and had to be redone. We did a long run on a Union Contract, forget the size and number of pages, wrapped and sent to the customer. He found and error. It was his fault. We redid it, he paid twice. Those things happened in those days. Spell check would have caught it.

The older I get, the more errors I find in my typing, just dumb, stupid little errors. I should proofread all my stuff, but my ADD wants me to get on to something else. Once is is typed I am done with it. So, if occasional errors appear, chalk it up to the laptop keyboard, which I am not used to, typing on my lap, and old age, and, after the "triple bi-pass" some quivering, no, shaking, of my hands, just like an old man, which,  in reality, I am.

Beautiful day, not even watching any football. I think I have come to the realization that they play the game whether I am watching or not. I guess in the time I have left, I should do more productive things than watching football.

We do have to get read and leave thought, my prescriptions are ready at Walmart. Finally got in to see the Doctor, nothing wrong with me, just have to do it to get prescriptions filled and to have blood drawn,  I still contend that it is called EXTORTION, but will save that for another day.
