Three people were killed and four others were injured Sunday when a gunman suspect opened fire in a hair salon in Brookfield, Wiconsins., near Milwaukee area, police said, according to NBC News.
Brookfield Piolice Chief Daniel Tushaus said an object resembling an improvised explosive device was left in or near the salon, which is across the street from Brookfield Square in Brookfield. Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, where the victims were taken for treatment.
The hospital was on lockdown because the gunman, identified as Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, was still at large. Police described Haughton as an African-American male, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing about 210 pounds and last seen wearing a grey sweater with blue jeans and carrying a white and black backpack.
Police were surrounding Haughton's home in Brown Deer, about 15 miles north of Milwaukee, NBC station WTMJ of Milwaukee reported. Four people were being treated at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, none of them in critical condition, and three more were expected, Beth Strohbusch, a spokeswoman for the hospital, told NBC News.
No children were believed to have been injured, the hospital said.
