Bellevue Hospital is being evacuated after officials say equipment and a laboratory was too heavily damaged by flooding after Sandy.
Mayor Bloomberg said in a press conference Wednesday hospital officials initially believed they could sustain operations using a backup generator, but found the water damage was too significant.
About 500 patients are affected, according to Bloomberg. The FDNY is assisting in transferring the patients.
The hospital overlooks the East River on First Avenue, which saw heavy flooding during Sandy

Obama camapign takes money from ‘Osama bin Laden’
Using a Pakistani Internet Protocol and proxy server, a disposable credit card and a fake address, “Osama bin Laden” has successfully donated twice to Barack Obama’s presidential re-election campaign.
The “Bin Laden” donations, actually made by WND staff, included a listed occupation of “deceased terror chief” and a stated employer of “al-Qaida.”
“Bin Laden” is currently set up on the official campaign website to contribute more to Obama’s campaign. The name is also registered as a volunteer.
Since the “foreign” contribution was sent, “Bin Laden’s” email address has received several solicitations from Obama’s campaign asking for more donations.
The apparently foreign-based contributions were conducted as a test after a flurry of media reports described the ability of foreigners to donate to the Obama campaign but not to Mitt Romney’s site, which has placed safeguards against such efforts.
The acceptance of foreign contributions is strictly illegal under U.S. campaign finance law.
NYU Langone Medical Center Evacuated After Backup Generator Fails
The NYU Langone Medical Center was evacuated after its backup power generator failed in the midst of an outage caused bySandy, officials say.
The Manhattan hospital began transferring more than 200 patients to other facilities late Monday, including 20 babies from neonatal intensive care, some of them on respirators operating on battery power.
Without power, the hospital had no elevator service, meaning patients had to be carefully carried down staircases and outside into the weather. Gusts of wind blew their blankets as nurses held IVs and other equipment.
Hospital officials said they had intermittent phone access and would notify families when the patients get to their destinations.
Dozens of ambulances lined up to transfer the patients, who were taken out on stretchers. Flood lights were set up in the hospital's lobby, giving hospital workers enough light to facilitate the evacuation.
In Manhattan, 193,000 customers are without power after an explosion at a Con Edison substation on 14th Street and Avenue C. Con Edison had also preemptively shut off power to some parts of lower Manhattan. Most residents below 39th Street had no electricity.

8 days till the elections
With only eight days before the elections, it seems that Americans are waking up and seeing the real President Barack Obama. His ratings are falling as are his standings in a number of the polls.
Last week, Obama’s job approval ratings fell seven points in a short three day span. On Oct. 23, his job approval ratings according to Gallup were at 53%. It dropped to 51% on the 24th, then down to 48% on the 25th and further down to 46% on the 26th.
It seems the only thing Obama has accomplished last week, other than campaigning, was to lie about the terrorist attack on Benghazi and to re-iterate that he is holding all of America as hostages on the tax cuts. Obama, who constantly says that they tried so hard to sit down with Republicans to work out compromises, has emphatically stated that he will veto any tax cut legislation that does not meet his requirements. This is Obamas form of compromise – everyone has to compromise to his way of doing things, but not vice versa.
In another indicator, that Americans are starting to see the real Obama presidency, is the latest Rasmussen Report on the swing states that Obama won in 2008. Those states include – Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin carry a total of 146 Electoral College votes

Boos and a walkout on Madonna
NEW ORLEANS (AP)
Madonna drew boos and triggered a walkout by several concertgoers after she touted President Barack Obama on her "MDNA Tour" in New Orleans.
The Material Girl asked during Saturday night's performance: "Who's registered to vote?" She added: "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama." Drawing boos in touting Obama over Republican Mitt Romney, Madonna followed: "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote."
Madonna is often outspoken. Some Colorado fans, mindful of a mass shooting there, complained she used a fake gun to shoot a masked gunman in a recent concert act in Denver. A Madonna concert in Paris in July drew ire when a video showed a swastika on a politician's forehead.

The HMS Bounty
Fourteen people were rescued this morning from a tall ship that was sunk by Hurricane Sandy, but a Coast Guard plane is scouring the churning seas for two crew members who are missing.
The HMS Bounty, a three masted ship, was 90 miles southeast of Hatteras, N.C., when the owner called saying she'd lost contact with the crew Sunday night, The AP reported. The Bounty is a 180-foot replica of the ship featured in the film "Mutiny on the Bounty."
The ship left Connecticut last week for St. Petersburg, Fla. The crew had been in constant contact with the National Hurricane Center and tried to go around the storm, according to the director of the HMS Bounty Organization, Tracie Simonin.
But the ship got caught in Sandy's fury and began taking on water. The crew was forced to abandon ship and get into two lifeboats, wearing survival suits and life jackets during the night, according to the Associated Press.
The Bounty completely sank later this morning.
Storm comments ..........
I posted this song earlier today, in reading some of the comments these two stood out ....
"I remember when my son was so sick, the Doctors didn't give much hope! He lay in a coma with encephalitis They said "We don't know what else to do" "We can only hope" "This may be as good as EVER gets" But guess what, his mother and I spoke with the great physician and few minutes later he awoke and said I love you mamma and love you daddy and that afternoon he was out of intensive care and two weeks later he was home like nothing ever happened!"
"This is one of my Mom's favorite songs. I had been teaching it to my grandchildren so they could sing it for "GG" (Great Grand mom . My daughter was in church with her little girl, as this was played as an instrumental for the offering. Suddenly, my beautiful three year old grand daughter started belting out the lyrics....all alone.. and to the amazement of everyone. "Keep me safe, till the storm passes by." It brought a lot of smiles as she sang alone and without any shyness. What a blessing."

Such an appropriate song for all of us in the path of this storm. I am concerned that we are not being told the complete severity of the situation for fear of panic by the populace. Apparently these conditions have never happened before, so they have no idea what to expect, other, than the worse. I think we are entering in to an unknown weather pattern in the East and earthquakes on the West Coast. I pray that we all stay safe, "Till the storm passes by."

Mark 4:39
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
Peace be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face,
While the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
Many times Satan whispered, "There is no need to try,
For there's no end of sorrow, there's no hope by and by"
But I know Thou art with me, and tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.
When the long night has ended and the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence on the bright peaceful shore;
In that land where the tempest, never comes, Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.
Chorus
Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more,
Till the clouds roll forever from the sky;
Hold me fast, let me stand in the hollow of Thy hand,
Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Don't take this lightly
Hurricane Sandy is roaring toward the Northeast, expected to make landfall early Tuesday near the southern New Jersey coast, prompting officials to order a mass transit shutdown and widespread mandatory evacuation orders ahead of punishing winds, days of rain and the promise of possibly historic flooding.
Mayor Bloomberg said Sunday he was closing city schools on Monday and mandating evacuations for the city's most vulnerable zone, which includes Battery Park City, Coney Island, Manhattan Beach, Far Rockaway and Midland Beach and South Beach in Staten Island. Hundreds of thousands of people live in the zone.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said subways, buses and commuter rails would begin shutting down at 7 p.m. Sunday, and that bridges and tunnels would be closed on a "case by case basis."
"Don't take this lightly," Cuomo said.

Chalk up one for Mitt
LAND O'LAKES, Fla.—Mitt Romney won a major newspaper endorsement on Saturday, as the Des Moines Register's editorial board formally backed the GOP candidate's bid for the presidency.
It was the first time in 40 years the influential battleground state paper endorsed a Republican in the general election, dating back to its support of Richard Nixon in the 1972 election. The Register previously backed Romney in the 2012 GOP primary.
In an editorial published on the newspaper's website Saturday night, the Register called both Romney and President Barack Obama "superbly qualified," citing their service in government and the fact they are both "devoted husbands and fathers."
But according to the paper, it determined Romney was better positioned to "forge the compromises in Congress" necessary to turn the economy around, create jobs and get the federal budget back on track.
"Romney has made rebuilding the economy his No. 1 campaign priority--and rightly so," the Register's editorial read.
At the same time, the paper noted Obama's "best efforts to resuscitate the stumbling economy have fallen short."

We have met and discussed this potentially disastrous weather that is approaching our country
and in the best interest of the country
we are suspending any further campaigning
and are going to leave our destiny up to the voters of this great country.
We both value the safety of our citizens
and their welfare is our uppermost concern.
We are meeting tomorrow morning (Sunday) in an undisclosed church location
to offer our prayers that we may all "weather this storm."
May the peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, be with you always,
and may his loving hands cradle us through this storm.
Commercials ..... too many
I am becoming convinced, that TV shows, sports, news, talk shows, are all noting more that a venue for commercials. They just can't run commercials all the time, they need "filler," and that's where all the shows come in.
If you think that TV doesn't rule sports, channel hop sometime, I just did, four football games, all had time outs at the same time, to air commercials.
Infomercials are at least honest, they are on the air to sell products, they are just one "honest" commercial. All of the other shows are just "fronts" so they can show commercials.
We realistically watch commercials, interrupted by some sad acting, action shots or sports. Commercials are the name of the game, the interruptions are just for show.
On the football field, there is a guy with a red sleeve, when the sleeve goes UP, the action stops, when the arm comes DOWN, action continues.

The First Evacuation in NY ............
NY's First Evacuation Order Issued for Fire Island, Residents Must Be Out by 2 p.m. Sunday
Sandy intensified and was reclassified as a hurricane Saturday as it churns along a track that could see it reach the tri-state as a hybrid super-storm with the potential to cause widespread flooding and lasting power outages.
Meanwhile the first evacuations in New York were ordered on Fire Island. Residents are to leave by 2 p.m. Sunday, the Islip town supervisor said.

Sandy Intensifies Back to Hurricane Strength, Heading Our Way
Sandy intensified and was reclassified as a hurricane Saturday as it churns along a track that could see it reach the tri-state as a hybrid super-storm with the potential to cause widespread flooding and lasting power outages.
NBC 4 New York has learned that Gov. Chris Christie will declare a state of emergency later Saturday, joining New York in the alert.
The storm had been briefly downgraded to a tropical storm, which is defined by only a small difference in wind speed; a hurricane has sustained winds of at least 74 mph while a tropical storm has 73 mph and under. More fluctuations between hurricane and tropical storm status are expected as it heads north.
Sandy, which has left more than 40 people dead in its path across the Caribbean, is expected to move parallel to the southeast coast of the U.S. through the weekend.
Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the coastal Carolinas Saturday evening and spread north Sunday. The storm could regain strength Sunday night, which is when its effects could start to be felt in our area.

TWO Monster Energy Drinks = Death?
AN energy drinks firm is being sued by the family of a 14-year-old girl who died after having two Monster Energy drinks.
Anais Fournier suffered a heart attack brought on by “caffeine toxicity” after drinking two cans of the drink — described by its makers as a “killer energy brew”.
The youngster, who had a disorder than can weaken blood vessels, died two days before Christmas last year after the beverage affected her heart’s ability to pump blood.
Now her family is suing Monster Beverage Corp as the US Food and Drug Administration launched an investigation into the energy drink, which has reported links to five deaths and one non-fatal heart attack.
The 24oz can of Monster Energy contains 240 milligrams of caffeine — three times as much as nearest rival Red Bull.
Anais’s parents, from Hagerstown, Maryland, US, claim the company failed to warn consumers about the risk of drinking its products.
Her mum Wendy Crossland said: “I was shocked to learn the FDA can regulate caffeine in a can of soda, but not these huge energy drinks.
“With their bright colours and names like Monster, Rockstar, and Full Throttle, these drinks are targeting teenagers with no oversight or accountability.
“These drinks are death traps for young, developing girls and boys, like my daughter.”

Sandy gonna be a dandy ..............
Hurricane Sandy rolled out of the Bahamas Friday, churning on a course that could see it blend with a winter storm and reach the tri-state area early next week as a super-storm that meteorologists predict could be the most widespread, damaging system of the last two decades.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency throughout New York."We want to make sure we take every precaution possible," he said.
Sandy, which weakened to a Category 1 hurricane Thursday night, has left more than 30 people dead in its path across the Caribbean and continues to threaten life and property as it powers its way toward the New York City area, forecasters say.
Officials are warning residents to begin planning for the worst by stocking up on supplies, studying evacuation routes and monitoring forecasts. Transit agencies and utilities began to implement their emergency preparations, including calling in extra contractors, clearing train tracks of debris and canceling planned construction projects.
Mayor Bloomberg noted there was still uncertainty about the timing and track of the storm, and said officials were not yet ordering evacuations because it was too early to make those calls. But still, he said, "common sense says you should start taking precautions."
"This is a potentially dangerous storm," he said.
The rain bands of Sandy will first show in the region Sunday, with the heaviest rain developing Sunday evening and lasting through Tuesday, meteorologists say. The worst of the system is expected to hit Monday into Tuesday morning and computer models now agree Sandy will make landfall at some point anywhere from southern Virginia to eastern Long Island.
Even Letterman is CONCERNED ABOUT OBAMA
DAVID LETTERMAN, HOST: Here's what upset me last night, this playing fast and loose with facts. And the President Obama cites the op-ed piece that Romney wrote about Detroit, “Let them go bankrupt, let them go bankrupt,” and last night he brings it up again. “Oh, no, Governor, you said let them go bankrupt, blah blah blah, let them go bankrupt.” And Mitt said, “No, no, check the thing, check the thing, check the thing.” Now, I don't care whether you're Republican or Democrat, you want your president to be telling the truth; you want the contender to be lying. And so what we found out today or soon thereafter that, in fact, the President Obama was not telling the truth about what was excerpted from that op-ed piece. I felt discouraged.
RACHEL MADDOW: Because the "Let Detroit go bankrupt" headline you feel like was inappropriate?
LETTERMAN: Well, the fact the President is invoking it and swearing that he was right and that Romney was wrong and I thought, well, he's the president of course he's right. Well, it turned out no, he was taking liberties with that.
The untruth that attracted Letterman's attention was just one of a litany of false statements from the president in the third presidential debate: He was wrong about keeping troops in Iraq, wrong on his role in slapping Iran with tough sanctions, and, of course wrong on the auto bailout dispute. One other significant statement was the president's assertion that the defense sequestration cuts "will not happen." In an attempt to contextualize and deflect Romney's criticism about deep defense cuts, Obama claimed that the sequestration concept was Congress' idea. Even left-leaning Politifact couldn't abide that blame-shift, rating the claim "mostly false:"
Benghazi???????????????
The more details that emerge about Benghazi, the more this becomes a national embarrassment
Now we learn that the CIA was refused assistance in answering the embassy assault there and the father of one of the victims was told by Hillary Clinton that the administration was going to pursue and jail that Muhammad filmmaker.
This came days after the attack which administration officials watched in real time and about which credit was claimed by an Islamic extremist group just hours after the attack
And to think NBC's Brian Williams didn't ask Obama about Benghzi details during an "exclusive interview" (campaign appearance) continues the trend of national media complicity in this cover up.
Obama’s 43 Czars: The largest personal staff in the history of the presidency
No executive in the world has more administrative and policy support than the president of the United States.
In addition to the President’s Cabinet, Barack Obama has a personal staff of 469 assistants to the president—a record number—almost all of whom are paid more than $100,000 per year.
In addition to this figure, factor in the cost of the benefits, staffs, and offices for 469 presidential assistants.
With that done, consider that there is an army of junior presidential assistants supporting the presidential assistants and another army of and secretaries supporting the junior assistants. All of these staffers—taken together—support the president. That’s a lot of support. It is also a lot of money to spend during a time of high unemployment, record-breaking budget deficits, and an anemic economy.
With the largest personal staff in the history of the presidency, one would think Barack Obama had all the help he could possibly need, but apparently this is not the case. In addition to the Cabinet and his army of presidential assistants, junior assistants, and secretaries, Barack Obama also has a record number of czars on his staff—43.
This number is not a misprint, and you are reading it correctly. The number of czars reporting to Barack Obama is 43, and this number is still increasing. Even Bill Clinton had only eight czars.
Why in the world with a fully-staffed cabinet and the largest personal staff in presidential history does Barack Obama need 43 czars? After all, how much help can one president need?
Triple amputee war veteran throws first pitch
As part of Major League Baseball's association with the Welcome Back Veterans program, the first pitch for Thursday's World Series Game 2 was thrown out by Marine Corporal Nicholas Kimmel.
"It's like a dream," he said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY Sports. "Being in the Marines and having to do so much stuff over and over â?¦ the nerves kinda go away."
Kimmel, a former high school baseball star at Moses Lake (Wash.) High School, lost both legs and his left arm in an explosion during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan.
He showed off his outfielder's arm as he fired a strike to the Giants' designated first-pitch catcher, reliever Sergio Romo. But perhaps the biggest thrill was sharing the mound with Giants Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Mays.
Mays is a U.S. Army veteran, who missed most of the 1952 and all of the 1953 seasons to serve in the Korean War.
"He took the ball and said I've got to rub it up with some dirt," Kimmel recalled. "He rubbed it up and signed it for me, so that was pretty cool."

More on Maya 2012
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Museum of Natural Science is preparing for the upcoming Maya "doomsday" scenarios by launching an exhibit to teach visitors about the ancient culture and debunk the myth that they predicted the end of the world would come Dec. 21, 2012.
Curator Dirk Van Tuerenhout says visitors to the "Maya 2012 Prophecy Becomes History" exhibit that opens Friday should walk away understanding the sun will rise Dec. 22.
The exhibit takes visitors back nearly 3,500 years through artifacts borrowed from several American museums and Guatemala City. The pottery, jade carvings, black-and-white rubbings and replicas of mural-filled buildings that still grace the jungles of Mexico all circle back to the Maya calendars.
The calendars helped the Maya track events — especially the rain — and build large cities.
Frankenstorm ... all the way to Ohio???
Am I wrong, or does it seem to get worse every year? And, a large portion of our gasoline comes from that area of the country, here we go again.
The pre-Halloween hybrid weather monster that federal forecasters call "Frankenstorm" is looking more ominous by the hour for the East Coast, and utilities and local governments are getting ready.
Meteorologists expect a natural horror show of high wind, heavy rain, extreme tides and maybe snow to the west beginning early Sunday, peaking with the arrival of Hurricane Sandy on Tuesday and lingering past Halloween on Wednesday.
With a rare mix of three big merging weather systems over a densely populated region, experts predict at least $1 billion in damage.
Hurricane Sandy, which has killed 21 in the Caribbean, including 11 in Cuba and nine in Haiti, is currently sweeping through the Bahamas and is barreling north. A wintry storm is chugging across the country from the west. And frigid air is streaming south from Canada.
And if they meet Tuesday morning around New York or New Jersey, as forecasters redict, they could create a big, wet mess that settles over the nation's most heavily populated corridor and reaches as far west as Ohio

More on the 2012 phenomenon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on 21 December 2012. This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship.
A New Age interpretation of this transition is that this date marks the start of time in which Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era. Others suggest that the 2012 date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe.
Scenarios suggested for the end of the world include the arrival of the next solar maximum, an interaction between Earth and the black hole at the centre of the galaxy, or Earth's collision with an object such as an asteroid, or a planet called "Nibiru".
Scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of such cataclysmic events occurring in 2012.
Professional Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending doom are not found in any of the extant classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture.
Astronomers and other scientists have rejected the proposals as pseudoscience, stating that they conflict with simple astronomical observations and amount to "a distraction from more important science concerns, such as global warming and loss of biological diversity".
Ahoy there, Matey .....
Somali pirates may not be as active as they once were in the waters off of east Africa, but they still pose a significant danger to anyone who crosses their path.
As a group of alleged pirates learned today, however, AK 47s are no match for the power of a NATO warship.
Early Wednesday, the crew of the Dutch warship HNMLS Rotterdam spotted a dhow close to the Somali shoreline. Because these kinds of fishing vessels are often used as "mother ships" for pirate crews, a boarding team was routinely dispatched to inspect the vessel.
As the boarding party neared the dhow (see photo below), the Dutch sailors took sustained gunfire from both the dhow and fighters on shore.
The boarding party returned fire and very quickly the dhow ignited in flames and those aboard jumped in the water to escape the blaze. The firefight killed one person aboard the dhow.

Josh Mandel: A US combat marine, Mandel is within striking distance in Ohio against Obama/Reid rubber-stamped Sherrod Brown. Brown votes with the Obama/Reid 95% of the time. Reid is investing millions attacking this young Marine.
ARIZONA
Jeff Flake: One of the most fiscally conservative members of Congress, Jeff Flake is a true conservative reformer who championed the current ban on earmarks. His opponent, Dr. Richard Carmona was cherry-picked by the Obama Administration and has access to millions of Democrat Super PAC dollars. Carmona would serve as yet another rubber-stamp vote for Harry Reid and the Obama White House.
VIRGINIA
George Allen: Allen is in a dead heat with the former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. What makes matters worse are the public employee unions – SEIU and AFSCME – dumping tens of thousands of dollars of union money into Virginia to buy this election. If Harry Reid and Barack Obama win Virginia – Democrats are likely to win both the presidency AND Harry Reid will keep control of the Senate.
I'm sitting out here in the Sun in Ohio
WASHINGTON (AP) — An unusual nasty mix of a hurricane and awinter storm that forecasters are now calling a "Frankenstorm" is likely to blast most of the East Coast next week, focusing the worst of its weather mayhem around New York City and New Jersey.
Government forecasters on Thursday upped the odds of a major weather mess, now saying there's a 90 percent chance that the East will get steady gale-force winds, heavy rain, flooding and maybe snow starting Sunday and stretching past Halloween on Wednesday.
Meteorologists say it is likely to cause $1 billion in damages.
The storm is a combination of Hurricane Sandy, now in the Caribbean, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North. They're predicted to collide and park over the country's most populous coastal corridor and reach as far inland as Ohio.
The hurricane part of the storm is likely to come ashore somewhere in New Jersey on Tuesday morning, said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecaster Jim Cisco. But this is a storm that will affect a far wider area, so people all along the East have to be wary, Cisco said.
Coastal areas from Florida to Maine will feel some effects, mostly from the hurricane part, he said, and the other parts of the storm will reach inland from North Carolina northward.

The Expanding Hollow Earth Theory
Enclosed for interest and information only.
The Expanding Earth idea has been around for a long time, but science has not considered it worthy of genuine investigation because a driving force was missing. This is where the Hollow Earth theory comes in. A new understanding of Gravity gives rise to an expanding, hollow Earth and once and for all neatly solves the drifting continent phenomenon.
This website sets out to prove that the Hollow Earth Theory and the Expanding Earth theory have credible scientific merit and should not be ignored. There is a wealth of evidence surfacing today that throws our current beliefs regarding the structure of our planet into serious doubt. Our goal is to accumulate as much of this information as possible and provide it in one easy-to-access place for all.
Throughout the pages of this website new ideas and discoveries are presented from wide-ranging areas of science. Our investigation has delved into many subjects and disciplines including geology and plate tectonics, paleontology and evolution, genetics and biology, gravity, astronomy and others. Each of these topics has their own exciting story to tell and together they will build a new picture of the Earth that is sure to surprise.
It is time look at the information before us with fresh eyes and open minds and to seek out the truth for ourselves.

Sandy heading our way
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Sandy has made landfall on the southeastern coast of Cuba and strengthened to a strong Category 2 storm, with winds up to 175 kilometers per hour.
Sandy was a Category 1 storm when it slammed into Jamaica Wednesday, near the capital, Kingston. Residents were under curfew. Both international airports were closed, and cruise ships stayed away.
Reports say an elderly Jamaican man died when a boulder rolled into his house. Earlier, when the storm passed over Haiti, a woman drowned while trying to cross a flooded river.
After passing over Cuba, Sandy is expected to pass over the Bahamas before heading for the southeastern U.S. state of Florida.
Some computer models show Sandy moving up the U.S. east coast into colder waters and turning into a winter-like storm called a "nor'easter," bringing high winds and chilly rain to coastal cities early next week.

On behalf of the candidates for President of the United States
we are both concerned about what we are hearing and seeing
on this vast internet and in print and on television
It is our fervent prayer that regardless of the outcome of the voting on Election Day
that all citizens of this great country accept the results as being the will of the people
and that we can then move forward, heal the wounds of the campaign,
and commence repairing the wrongs of this great country
and strive to regain all of the things that have made this country great.

Benghazi Conspiracy Points to Obama and Muslim Brotherhood
If you listen to Obama, Biden and rest of that team, you will have already heard a number of lies and cover-ups.
And like so many other things, the more lying and covering up that is done, the more different conspiracy theories begin to abound.
What makes for a good conspiracy theory is having parts of it based on evidence that has been determined to be true. Once you establish what is supposed to be true, you start adding the meat and flesh of your conspiracy around that frame until you get the creature you desire.
One conspiracy I recently read kind of peaked my interest. I’m not saying this is true and I’m not saying it’s not true. But there could be just enough truth in it to make it plausible.
According to Kris Zane at The Western Center For Journalism, he believes that the attack on the Consulate in Benghazi leads back to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood which in turn leads back to the White House and President Barack Obama.
Old Butch
John was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young layers (hens), called 'pullets,' and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs.
He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing.
Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.
John's favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.
To John's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring.
He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.
John was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Saint Lawrence County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well.
Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention.
Vote carefully this fall, the bells are not always audible.

Slithering theater thief convicted, faces serious jail time
By Mike Krumbolt
A Pennsylvania man was convicted of slithering around theater floors and stealing moviegoers' wallets and purses.
Anthony Johnson, 49, may have taken as much as $70,000 per week, according to authorities. Along with his accomplices, Johnson used the stolen credit cards and IDs to secure cash advances at local casinos. They also purchased thousands of dollars worth of goods from area retailers.
An accomplice testified against Johnson and detailed how the thefts occurred. Because the crimes necessitated purses on the floor, Johnson and a female accomplice would often buy tickets to female-oriented films like "Eat, Pray, Love" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." The pair sat in seats that allowed them a clear view of where the female patrons stored their handbags.
According to courtroom testimony, once the lights went down and the movie started, "Johnson crawled on the floor, removed credit cards from the stored purses, and returned the wallet to the purses." Johnson would then buy things like gift cards, iPods, and sunglasses and sell them at discounted prices. Johnson had equipment that he used to make fake IDs to match the credit cards.
Now the jig is up. Johnson will be sentenced on January 14. He faces up to 10 years in prison on each of the seven charges of stealing credit cards. He also faces additional years behind bars due to his identity theft convictions. Perhaps the toughest punishment of all--the memories of watching "Eat, Pray, Love" who knows how many times.

Who should I vote for?
Good question.
If I was the Chairman of the Board of a major corporation and had hired a CEO who had increased our debt tremendously, did little to nothing to live up to his promises that he made prior to hiring him, lied about some of the situations we got involved in, and had spent a great deal of time in our corporate jet, vacationing with his family, flying all over the world, to the extent we had to put on three additional crews to handle his traveling requirements, I would consider firing him, especially if we found out there was a question about his past and his qualifications and he never produced any documents to back up his statements.
It would be a "no brainer."
There is still a question in my mind about his citizenship. He has never produced convincing documents. I am convinced that he is Muslim. I have not witnessed anything to the contrary. He has stated that we are no longer a "christian" nation. That scares me a little, not for me, but for those of the next generations.
Difficult to explain, but he has never appeared "presidential." I have done a lot of typesetting in my life, and in the past I have always capitalized the word President. I don't anymore, and I rarely see it done in print.
In my opinion he does not belong in our lists of Presidents, he was a mistake, that through very careful planning, by someone, he slid in under the door. I don't think it has come out yet, just why, and I am concerned that when we do, it will be too late.
Those are my concerns. Is a vote for Obama a vote for a "calculated plan," or a man.

TIME .... a precious gift to give .........
I re-read one of my posts this morning, I think it is something we should read at lease once a week, if not more often. A dear friend of mine told me once of the impact I had on his life. I have had a few others recall moments from time past when I had said something or done something that they have always remembered.

ONE public hospital
MACAU (Reuters) - A short walk from billionaire Stanley Ho's extravagant Grand Lisboa casino stands the faded pink exterior of the Conde S. Januário, Macau's only public hospital.
Inside, bathroom tiles are stained and paint peels off the walls along the corridors where patients queue to be examined by busy medical staff. The hospital, built in the 1980s, serves the former Portuguese colony's more than half a million residents.
A new hospital is planned, but won't open until 2019. By then, Macau is expected to have added another six glitzy casinos to the three dozen that already make it the world's betting capital, as Las Vegas mogul Steve Wynn and others continue to bet on the only place where Chinese can legally gamble.
Life in Macau, a southern Chinese enclave one third of the size of Manhattan, is geared to gambling, which brings in revenue of more than $33 billion and accounts for more than 40 percent of GDP. There are more than four times as many gambling tables per 1,000 residents than hospital beds.

Kinda scary ....
I am getting more concerned all the time that this blog and my computer is being monitored. A few anti Obama things I have done have disappeared. I occasionally submit to a "Spoof" site, and one spoof news article, about Obama, which I submitted twice, never got published.
A few things I have tried to pub on this blog, I was unable to post, for one reason or another. Nothing I can put my finger on,, but too many things seemed to have gone "wrong."
Just makes me wonder if "Big Brother" is somehow keeping an eye on what I do.

Heated seats in cars ......................
Why do we need heated seats in cars? A recent survey done by MST, showed that 93.6 percent of people who had cars with this feature, had heated garages in their homes, and 89.3 percent of those parked their cars in "inside" parking during the day. So why do they need to have a heated seat in their car?
Almost 100 percent of the drivers in this country wear outerwear or topcoats in the Winter, so why the heated seat.
You know why, it is called "status" ..... it is a status symbol. Why do you need a Cadillac or a Lincoln to drive to Walmart. prestige, ego and status.
Perhaps a salesman or someone who spends a lot of time in their car during the day can appreciate and use their "luxury" extras, but why the extra expense. Perhaps ego? Or, is it advertising and marketing. You see all those lovely people on TV driving in those cars and you want to be associated with them. More status and ego, with an assist by advertising.
I remember years ago, Charles Kettering, the inventor of the self starter and many other things, extremely wealthy, lived on a large estate, was given a new Cadillac each year by GM. I have seen he and his chauffeur driving around in it, well, not the Caddy, the little Chevy he went out and bought each year.
Thank marketing and advertising and salesmanship and status for all the expensive things you buy, and really don't need.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Conveniently Returns to Rehab
By Connor Simpson
After a week that included questions about his campaign finances and reports of him out drinking in Chicago, Jesse Jackson Jr. is heading back to the Mayo Clinic for the second time this year.
The Chicago Sun-Times' Michael Sneed reports Jackson was on his way back to the Mayo Clinic on Friday night.
Jackson's been on medical leave since June for bipolar disorder. Jackson is resuming his treatment at the Minnesota clinic because he was finding it too difficult at home:
Facebook replies
This was posted on Facebook, by an Obama supporter.
These are some of the replies she got. I thought they were perceptive and interesting.
"Too little too late. He should have proposed that and had it passed by now, when the Democrats still held the House...I see this as desperation tactics. It just isn't gonna fly in my opinion."
"He's been doing just the opposite his entire term to our vets, like golfing when he should have been at Arlington National Cemetary, his disdain for our military is obvious to all especially our military, especially after revealing info about seal time."
"D______, you do know that Harry Reid would not allow anything and no budgets to come to the floor in over 3 years."
VOTER FRAUD
CLEVELAND (Reuters) - More than 140 billboards in Ohio and Wisconsin warning of the criminal consequences of voter fraud will be taken down starting on Monday after the sponsor chose to remove them rather than reveal its identity, the billboard owner said.
The billboards, which show a large judge's gavel and read "Voter Fraud is a felony - up to 3 ½ years and a $10,000 fine," went up primarily in low-income minority neighborhoods in early October, just weeks before the November 6 elections, and were immediately criticized by voter rights groups as an attempt to intimidate minority voters.
The sponsor was not identified on the billboards owned by Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. The company said this was a violation of its policy against anonymous political ads.
After discussions, the sponsor, whom Clear Channel Outdoor has called a "private family foundation" but declined to name, "thought the best solution was to take the boards down, so we are in the process of removing them," the company said in a statement.

And no one is talking about it
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama isn't talking about it and neither is Mitt Romney. But come January, 163 million workers can expect to feel the pinch of a big tax increase regardless of who wins the election.
A temporary reduction in Social Security payroll taxes is due to expire at the end of the year and hardly anyone in Washington is pushing to extend it.
Neither Obama nor Romney has proposed an extension, and it probably wouldn't get through Congress anyway, with lawmakers in both parties down on the idea.
Even Republicans who have sworn off tax increases have little appetite to prevent one that will cost a typical worker about $1,000 a year, and two-earner family with six-figure incomes as much as $4,500.
Frank Tanabe
What is this, a picture of an old guy, oriental, in bed, maybe writing his last will and testament?
No, actually it is Frank Tanabe casting his vote.
Frank served in World War II, after he volunteered to join the Army, from behind barbed wire at his Tule Lake, California internment camp. He had been student at the University of Washington and was pulled out of school and interned along with 110,000 others by a presidential directive.
Noah Tanabe, his grandson, said he thinks about his grandfather every time he votes."It's hard to imagine - after his family business is torched, his family imprisoned, and denied the opportunity to finish his college education - he volunteered to serve. I don't know if I would have done the same thing, but we are all very proud of him," he said.
"I think he feels like joining the Army, going to the camp, fighting in the war, and fighting discrimination — these were all things he did so that we have this precious right to vote," she said.

Another one of the never ending tragedies
Three people were killed and four others were injured Sunday when a gunman suspect opened fire in a hair salon in Brookfield, Wiconsins., near Milwaukee area, police said, according to NBC News.
Brookfield Piolice Chief Daniel Tushaus said an object resembling an improvised explosive device was left in or near the salon, which is across the street from Brookfield Square in Brookfield. Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, where the victims were taken for treatment.
The hospital was on lockdown because the gunman, identified as Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, was still at large. Police described Haughton as an African-American male, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing about 210 pounds and last seen wearing a grey sweater with blue jeans and carrying a white and black backpack.
Police were surrounding Haughton's home in Brown Deer, about 15 miles north of Milwaukee, NBC station WTMJ of Milwaukee reported. Four people were being treated at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, none of them in critical condition, and three more were expected, Beth Strohbusch, a spokeswoman for the hospital, told NBC News.
No children were believed to have been injured, the hospital said.

Stimulated some interest
I've gotten a number of Emails on my blog on job creation. All politicians are going to create "jobs." I don't think you can do that, jobs cannot be created. The "need" comes first. If there is a need for a product or a service, then a job can be created to fill that need.
For now, all, or most of our needs, seem seem to be being filled. Walmart is fully stocked, as are all of the other stores I frequent, but Walmart generally has a much larger crowd in their store. I get the impression also, that need is created through television, the TV screen seems to tell us what we need. First radio and newspaper told us what we needed and now it is the exclusive privilege of our TV sets. Boils down to TV creating our "need."
The "Infomercial" industry seems to bear that out. Only bad thing about that, all the products are "Made in China." The reason, they can't be produced economically enough to be made in the United States and be sold within that competitive price range they need.
I remember a few years ago, a morning TV show wanted to get monogrammed coffee mugs to be sold to their listening audience. The would only offer a product that was made in the US. They could not find a company to make them within the price range that they wanted to offer them.
So how are all these "political promises" of creating jobs going to come to fruition if they cannot produce a product that can be competitively sold in our country.
In some cases though, if you look long and hard enough, a product "Made in the USA" can be found and purchased, in may cases at a lower price that one made in China.
NEED not CREATE. Don't put the cart in front of the horse.

Politics or Truth???? I wonder?
Iran Has Agreed to Nuclear Talks
The United States and Iran have agreed in principle for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, according to Obama administration officials, setting the stage for what could be a last-ditch diplomatic effort to avert a military strike on Iran.
Iranian officials have insisted that the talks wait until after the presidential election, a senior administration official said, telling their American counterparts that they want to know with whom they would be negotiating.
News of the agreement — a result of intense, secret exchanges between American and Iranian officials that date almost to the beginning of President Obama’s term — comes at a critical moment in the presidential contest, just two weeks before Election Day and the weekend before the final debate, which is to focus on national security and foreign policy.
Let's hope this is on the up and up ...
George McGovern has died
Former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate George McGovern has died, the AP reports.
He was 90.
The 1972 Democratic Party's nominee for president, he lost to Richard Nixon with only 17 electoral votes.
A longtime progressive, McGovern called for tax reform and a national health insurance. He was also a staunch opponent of the Vietnam War and ran his 1972 presidential campaign on ending it.
McGovern passed away on Sunday after entering hospice care last week. His family announced that he was coming to the end of his life after a series of medical problems.
Who did what to whom?
A Pennsylvania man has his eye on a large, furry and elusive suspect who he accused of vandalizing his 1973 Dodge Winnebago.
John Reed, a self-described Bigfoot tracker since the age of 10, said he was camping with his girlfriend when he saw the creature walk past his motor home window. Reed said the Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, reportedly threw rocks at his mobile home's outside light to escape discovery.
Reed, who is the founder of the Lykens Valley Sasquatch Hunters, and his girlfriend, jumped into their truck and gave chase, making special 'Bigfoot calls' to locate the creature.
"As soon as I did it, something stood up on her side of the truck," he said. "She seen the eyes glaring in the light of the truck, stood up and walked this way into the woods."
This alleged sighting is the third time Reed said he has come into contact with the creature.
"Do I believe in Bigfoot? Yes I do," he said. "Have I had sightings of what I believe to be Big Foot? Yes."
While police believe the damage may have been caused by vandals, for Reed it was a warning from Sasquatch to get off his territory.
