Gone but not forgotten

We lost a lot of my "notables" in 2010.

Art Linkletter who was a TV Icon for so many years. In the 1950s, Linkletter became a major investor in and promoter of the hula hoop, he was 98.

Barbara Billingsley, the Beaver's Mother.

Dennis Hopper, Dixie Carter, Eddie Fisher, Fess Parker, Gary Coleman and George Steinbrenner.

James McArthur who had a long list of credits, the one I remember was "Hawaii 50," he might even have been Dano, of "Book him, Dano" fame.

Jean Simmons and John Forsythe who was in many films and TV shows. Charley's Angels, for one, and the one I remember most was an old Hitchcock Film, "The Trouble With Harry," one of my favorite movies even though it wasn't a big box office smash.

June Havoc and Kathryn Grayson, both appeared in many films. Grayson had a beautiful singing voice.

Lena Horne, elegance and beauty, "Stormy Weather" was her song. She is an example of a mixed family upbringing, but like most people of color back in the day she was forced to embrace the African American heritage and endure the racism that existed.

Martin Benson, the name doesn't ring a bell, but he was the butler in the Pink Panther move, "A Shot in the Dark."

Merlin Olson and Mitch Miller. Merlin went from the LA Rams to TV and made another name for himself. Mitch Miller entertained us with his music on TV.

Patricia Neal who we seen many times, movies, TV, Pernell Roberts most remembered for living on the Ponderosa, and Peter Graves, also of movie and TV fame, he has a list of credits a mile long, but, I remember him as the pilot in the "Airport" spoofs.

Robert Culp, many TV appearances, still watch him everyday in that show where he is an undercover agent and a tennis pro.

Rue McClanahan, many credits to her name, still on a alot of reruns today, one of the "Golden Girls."

Tom Bosley left us this year, the father in "Happy Days" made him a legend. He has a list of 138 credits to his name, most of which were "hit" shows. He was the image of every body's Father.

Tony Curtis, he was a "STAR" and appeared in many great movies. He has 128 credits on one list. He was "Houdini," "Some Like it Hot" with Jack Lemmon is a classic. I liked the one with he and Carry Grant in the "Pink Submarine." There aren't many of the big "stars" of my era left. He was definitely one of them.
