Tuesday 2/4

The BIG news, we still have our colds, I spend of lot of my good sleep time sitting up in a chair, seems like I do less coughing. I don't recall ever having one that lasted so long. Oh for one of those hot sunny days, laying in the sun, where the feel of the heat is so overwhelming, all wrapped p in heat, maybe my left ear will work better then, also.

I am anticipating the Winter Olympics with the same enthusiasm that I had for the Super Bowl. It must be my age. I have heard that the commercials, this year, were a bust also. In Houston, Texas, poor old Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale is out $7 million today because of a Super Bowl promotion he ran in his furniture store. He offered Gallery Furniture customers a full refund if the less favored Seattle Seahawks won the big game. The patrons just needed to spend at least $6,000 in the store during the two weeks before the Super Bowl and have their items delivered by Sunday at 5pm. I guess it was the second big promotion he had lost on.

I was in Reno when they held the Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley. Not as big an event as it is today.

Snow heading our way tonight, I guess, could be quite measurable, and some report one coming in right after this one. Odd, listening on radio last night, some cities in California will soon run out of water, whole communities. Old friend Ernie, in California, sent a photograph of a river near him that is usually around 100 yards wide, now, only a few feet. Salmon could be wiped out, they are unable to reproduce because of low water. Could be a prelude to a disaster, a number of those are showing up.
