Snow and ice in Ohio this morning, as predicted. I am still impressed how accurate Walmart was in their weather prediction, almost a week and a half ago. There predictions seem to be quite accurate, and many days ahead of local television in Columbus. Very impressive.
Many closings today, understandably. I still don't remember ever not going to school at either Emerson or Oakwood. If it snowed, you wore boots, if it rained, you wore a raincoat. We had no buses in those days, I have never ridden on a school bus. Neighborhoods had their own schools, not like today. Everyone was in walking distance of school, and, not related, but I had to learn my "multiplication tables" and remember them to this day, most of the time.
I have heard and told that Vicks, ribbed on the bottom of one feet, cures and helps severe coughs. I have a severe, deep, keep me awake all night, kind of cough. Last night, around 11, I was coughing, repeatedly and deeply. I have one of those "foot soaking" Doctor Scholls things. Did almost 30 minutes soaking in nice hot water, felt great. Dried, and put a heavy layer of Vicks on the soles of my feet, put on clean white socks, crawled under the covers in anticipation of a good nights sleep. I woke up a little while later, coughing, uncontrollably, in close intervals. Got up, went to the living room and sat in my chair. Interrupted quite often by a cough, a very deep cough ... my feet feel vibrant this morning, though, in between coughs.
