Little Eagle came to town

I don't know how many of you remember, but there was a considerable amount of turmoil over the Octagon Earth Works that we have here in Licking County. To show support, a number of tribes sent representatives to Newark, to show support at a pow-wow gathering to be held at the Octagon Earth Works.

I had the pleasure of meeting a few Paiutes, and a few Osage that came in from Oklahoma. There were also a few Klamath Indians that drove all the way from Oregon to attend, as well as some Wahshoe from Nevada.

I think, altogether, there were around 300 Indians, from different tribes, that made the journey to Licking County to show their support.

We had the restaurant in the Arcade then, and a few of them came in to eat.

I remember early one morning, an Indian entered, and introduced himself as Ernie LaPointe, the great grandson of Chief Sitting Bull. Trying to be polite, I raised my right arm to my shoulder, and said, "How," thinking that was a traditional welcoming gesture.

He replied, "Scrambled."
