Times have changed, and sometimes it is difficult to fathom all the changes that have happened in our society.
There are some things we have seen all of our lives and learned to accept and embraced.
I have been a sports fan all of my life. I remember Bronco Nagursky, Tom Harmon, Coach Woody Hayes, so many greats.
I have listened to, or watched the Cleveland Browns. Bernie Kosar, Jim Brown, Lou Groza and all of the other "greats" who added to the popularity of the game as it is today.
I have seen a number of games in the "shoe" in Columbus, Ohio. I have driven to Pittsburgh to see the Steelers play, I have visited the HOF, the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Saw so many of the "greats" there, saw a number of "inductions" in to the HOF.
Mach Hummon, my teacher in high school, played with one of the first professional football teams. Dr. Herb Harris, a family friend, spent weekends in the 30's patching up "football" players. Later, as an orthopedic surgeon, he worked on the knees of Joe Namath.
I have witnessed much "jubilation and celebration" when a name was announced that a college player had been "drafted" by a Professional Football Team. "Thanks Mom, thanks Dad, all of our work and dedication has paid off, I'm gonna play for the Packers."
A first..... Michael Sam finds out he was drafted by the St. Louis Rams, the 6'2"", 261 pound defensive back, cries and then kisses his boyfriend. It is going to take some time to erase that image from my mind. I wonder if that photograph will be displayed in the HOF. No need, it is "burned" into my mind.
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."-- Thomas Jefferson
"When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout." .... jbd
"When once a job you have begun, do no stop till it is done. Whether the task be great or small, do it well, or not at all." .... Anon
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. - Albert Einstein
Television is one daylong commercial interrupted periodically by inept attempts to fill the airspace in between them.If you can't start a fire, perhaps your wood is wet ....
