COLUMBUS, Ohio -A suspect was arrested by SWAT officers Thursday in connection with the burglary of a home on the south side of Columbus in March. According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, on March 28, three people forced entry into a home in the 1100 block of Obetz Road at about 10:49 a.m.
The people stole several items, including $500 in cash, and a TV from the home.
One resident was asleep in her bedroom, and her 91-year-old aunt was sitting in the living room watching TV.
The suspects took the TV while the 91-year-old woman was watching it. The sheriff's office said the woman was confused, and did not know what was occurring, but said that one of the suspects was holding a handgun. The suspects then entered the bedroom, and the other resident woke up and screamed. The suspects then fled the scene.
Through their investigation, detectives identified Shawn L. McCoy, as one of the suspects, and subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of aggravated burglary. McCoy was arrested Thursday by the Franklin County SWAT team.
The investigation into the identities of the two remaining suspects is ongoing.
