A thought came to me today while in the shower. As you probably know by ow, I am old. That thought concerned life, and compared it to a long bus, in a large city with, let'say, 120 streets, 120 stops the bus makes. My bus passed 81st street, and still going strong.
One never knows when it is your stop, to get off. But, you do know, that you have to get off, sometime. On occasions I will have a heart palpitation or gas or something happens in my chest, and the mind wonders, "Is this the last one, is it now?" I don't dwell on it, it just happens.
Then, I have to wonder, what happens then. Does the "bulb" just go out, and there is nothing. I am a natural worrier anyway, and it is probably stupid, on my part to worry about, well, death. Does the mind keep working for a while, but, you just can't talk. "Ouch, that hurts, why is that guy pushing down on my chest?"
Or, does it all just end, nothing more, you get off the bus, and that ends it.
The higher the streets, the fewer the passengers, on that bus, it is no longer crowded. The "driver" probably knows which street I get off at, but HE is not disclosing that information.
I like this bus, I am happy and content riding on it, and hope to ride on it, as long as possible ..........
