In Nevada, years ago, we used silver dollars on the tables. We had chips for higher denominations, but the silver dollar was the basic unit, it was a dollar, no doubt about it, and silver.
But, we were taught, told and trained to CONVERT. As soon as their bet, or their payoff warranted it, CONVERT them to chips, or checks, WHY, simple, they had no value on the surface. They were good for $5, $10, $20, $25, $50 or $100, but they were still just chips. A silver dollar was a dollar. Until they were "cashed in," they were just checks. When they were converted to paper money they were probably going to head for the door, unless, "Could we get you and your wife a drink?" "How about letting us buy you guys dinner." "Would you like to go see our show?" Anything, just keep them in the club, get that paper. When you "buy in" at a table, the paper money is dropped into a box, never to be seen again on that table, opened in the counting room, "gone South" as was often stated.
The government, at any level, purchases, purchases and purchases, and NEVER sees any money. Money has NO value to them, figures on paper, nothing more, a check is only a piece of paper. If ALL government transactions were done with PAPER MONEY, there would be less problems. "Wow, that's a heck of a lot of money to spend, let's think this over." "How much is that fire truck, that whole stack there, OH."
I remember reading about a very successful business owner, very rich, his philosophy: he tried to instill in to all his employees to save paperclips ... saving has to start somewhere, so start at the bottom, SAVE PAPERCLIPS!
Think of WHO government is? Are they trained in school to be politicians, do they have "schooling" on the subject, no. You can go in a matter of moments from being a truck driver, to being a mayor, handling millions of dollars ............. of other peoples money. Politicians are not trained, they are elected, with no regard to experience, background or training.
My solution, ALL cash transactions, all monies to be delivered by the politicians whose votes brought about the purchase, NO checks, NO credit cards, CASH ONLY. Make them think a little how much actually is being spent.
