First of all, I am in NO WAY opposed to collecting toys for kids at Christmas time. I think it is GREAT. But, I am beginning to wonder if perhaps some of our priorities have changed.
They did a spot on the news last night about letters that Santa received. This year, many wanted warm clothing. Kids may be more practical than we know.
Television stations collect toys, firemen collect toys, the Army collects toys, everyone collects toys, but we are not the NATION that we used to be, kids now need clothing, food, books and maybe even money to help pay the utilities, so their house can have heat. Hard to play with toys when your hands are cold.
Times have changed, we are no longer the "land of plenty," for many.
Toys were great when we had everything else we needed, priorities have changed.
Hungry and cold kids have more needs than toys, and how about the kids all around the world?
